@Quatschmacher i tested your Thriller preset. It is very good, thank you!

I found a little hard to make it track staccato with the octaver. Do you think an external octaver (either before or after on the signal chain) would make it easier? I have an Aguilar octaver here, will test later.

Also later, I'll record a video for my yt channel, where I'll give you the proper credit for dialing the preset :)

PS: now I need a 5 string bass 😂

I was wondering the same! I have been playing with the v4 pedal for a bit now, but not downloaded the editor yet. Was thinking of keeping the v3 pedal as a keyboard option

Sorry, only just seen this as notifications don’t seem to be working for me.

Personally if I had to run an octaver, I’d run it in parallel to the FI so that the FI can be triggered with dry signal only. Might also help to play around with the note-on and note-off settings to see if that improves response.

Yes and no is the short answer.

The “shell” program that runs the editor is the same on both versions and opens the file called “FIEditor”, I believe. In the folder where that file is located, you can have the v3 and v4 versions at the same time, as long as only one of the files is labelled “FIEditor”. Basically, you need to usefully rename whichever one you aren’t currently using so that the shell program doesn’t get confused.

So say you are running v4, then you should label the other one “FIEditor v3” or similar. Then when you want to run v3, change the v4 file’s name to something like “FIEditor v4”. Then change the v3 filename back to just “FIEditor”. Then when you launch the editor, it will open the v3 editor instead.

It’s clunky, I know, but there’s no other way around it.

I wonder, I have both on my machine, and I can open them even both. Looking into "Properties" I see that the 3.60 editor is "C:\Program Files\panda-audio\FIEditor\" while the FI4 is C:\Program Files\panda-audio\FIEditor4\"
Maybe I will ask Zsolt about this.

Thinking about it, I’m probably thinking about how it worked during the testing phase when we were having to swap between the two editors, but that was actually before the v4 editor had been fully built with its own installer. I realise, I haven’t tried having full versions of both editors installed simultaneously since then.

Folks, ignore what I said then and go with wha Andras says.

I’ve just had this reply from a Zsolt about running both editors:

The public version of the FIEditor4 uses its own directory, so both editors can be used at the same time on the same PC. The only restriction is that they cannot use the same MIDI device at the same time, due to Windows MIDI rules.

Please elaborate. What do you mean by “log into the v3 page”? Do you mean the online database website? If so, there’s no difference.

Or do you mean logging in to the “global” directory within the editor? The same login should work for both editors.

It didn’t have to be, but that’s how it needs to be in order to get the smallest possible footprint. It’s 12x8cm, which is just over half the size of the original. Earlier protypes were deeper but I pushed to get it as small as possible and suggested the raised platforms for the footswitches so that there’s less likelihood of stepping on the encoder.

Also, you’re not meant to operate the encoder with your foot.
