Ignorance may be bliss however there is no substitute for the quest for knowledge. Better sound quality, detente’s parameter dial, sturdier knobs, full parameter edit values from the panel, full release time of envelopes when played from audio input, oscillator sync. Plus the cool new stuff coming in the next update.

hey folks - looking for any potential explanations for a problem I'm having with my FIV4 (VIP): I bought one about a month ago to upgrade from my V1 which has served me well in my 80s cover band since 2019. First two gigs with the V4 went smoothly, but last week it went haywire on me during a gig. Basically it shuts itself off, restarts, chokes the signal, powers down and restarts again, ad infinitum. The only variable since it ran well at the start were two new 1/4" cables to connect it to my HX Stomp's effects loop. It seems to be running okay now in my basement, but at a gig last night (not the 80s band, so wasn't using it, but it lives on my board) it was doing the same thing - cycling through shut down and start up. Two different venues, and while one has "bad power", I didn't notice any hum last night using any other pedals. I power it with a strymon zuma. Thoughts on potential solutions? I rebooted it once and that hasn't taken care of the issue. In the meantime maybe I'll try reinstalling the last update.

I’ve never encountered this on the FI ever. However, I’ve had Source Audio pedals do this kind of thing if they have been fed insufficient current. Basically the firmware data can become corrupted, which would present ongoing problems.

My guess is bad/insufficient power on the first gig corrupted the memory, which is why you encountered problems on the next gig.

Definitely reinstall the latest firmware and reinstall your presets just to be sure.

Just to point out, in case you are unaware: the FI4 requires 200mA which is twice that of the older version. Please ensure your setup is providing enough current. If you’ve simply swapped out the old pedal for the new, it could be that your calculations are now off and you’ve exceeded the limit of what your power supply can provide.

Thanks for this. The Zuma outlets provide 500mA, so shouldn't be an issue, correct?

Correct. If you’re powering the FI4 off a single port, it should be fine. (This is exactly how I power mine, by the way.)

I’d still reflash the firmware and the presets just to be safe.

If it happens again after that, contact support and let us know here.

Really enjoying the Future Impact pedal.
Just had a few feature requests, I see the creator posts here so thought I'd list them here, not sure where else to put them.

1. Bitcrusher / samplerate reducer in the effects section, should be simple to implement, having a resonant filter going into a bitcrusher is a great and computationally cheap way of opening up a bunch of formant sounds as well as a fun way of creating interesting distortions.

2. There are several controls that aren't smoothed, creating the zipper sound when adjusted, this makes assigning a Flexi curve to them useless. For example, the delay time in the delay effect as well as, I believe, the distortion/harmoniser controls.

3. The EQ effect seems to already affect the subs and top end when engaged without any of the bands being adjusted, if it could be completely flat when set flat that would be helpful.

4. Highpass and lowpass filters, not resonant ones, just utilities for cutting extreme subs and top end. The highpass should be an 18dB or otherwise fairly steep slope ideally.

5. In the effect section rather than choosing between either EQ into Distortion or Distortion into EQ it would be nice to have the option of an EQ on either side.

That's about all I can think of right now.
Thanks again, this is a really useful pedal, especially now it's in a smaller enclosure.
