All covered in the addendum. Setlists can only be programmed on the pedal at the moment. Setlist is 99 patches, accessed the same way as normal patches have been so far (either via footswitches or remote PC messages).

When not in setlist mode you send bank messages to switch between the VA and FM engine. Each uses PC 1-99 as before.

I’m really looking forward to working with this! The anticipation continues with the pedal at my rehearsal space until Thursday.

I love the idea of parallel presets of 1-99 for each engine.

Probably. It’s not currently an option though. It’s on the list though.

Do you mean a bank change message? Yes, if you want to be able to do that without using the FI’s global menu.

I mean full polyphony, i.e. to play different chords on the bass and to hear these chords from the oscillators of the Future Impact.
In short: just like the Polysynth algorithm on the Eventide H90.

I also have an H90 and am convinced that their Polysynth algorithm is like the Boss SY series pedals, manipulating your input tone into oscillator-like sounds (so the algorithmic trick is just that the pedal is pulling chords apart into individual notes and processing each independently, hence the relatively small latency and super clean “tracking”) whereas the Future Impact is actually pitch-tracking and playing external sounds at the pitch of your playing. I could be wrong about this, but it would explain why the only amplitude envelope control you get from the H90 synth engine is attack delay (same story from the Boss pedals). The H90 Polysynth sound is really nice though!

It’s per-preset. Lots of the factory patches use it now.

If the pedal wasn’t in update mode when you attempted to install the file, nothing will have happened. Simply follow the instructions to the letter. Check BOTH your MIDI connections are selected and connected. Communication error is normally if you’ve not plugged the FI MIDI output into the computer.

Success! Boy, it's a finicky little bugger You have to do the dance EXACTLY right, or it may (and probably will) fail!

CC32 is Bank LSB I believe. Use value 0 for VA, value 1 for FM.

This is probably the next thing that we will do. Just we did not want to delay the software release further, as we knew that all of you are waiting eagerly...

Read how setlist works in the addendum - you specify an engine per step so that switching happens automatically when you increment through the setlist.

It’s really easy.

Your reply seems to have missed out a bit of information I need:

With the interface out output cable plugged into the FI’s MIDI input, moving sliders on the editor should show “- - “ in the PEDAL’s display; does this happen? If it does not, it is likely the cable that is defective.

Clearly the FI’s ports are functioning correctly from the tests you have done.

Whilst that info about the cable from the seller is true for the older FI units, the FI4 is designed to work with cheaper interfaces as the packet sizes were reduced. I did testing on a really old crappy basic interface and it worked fine.

I connected the iConnectivity MioXC cable that was recommended to me by the company that sold the unit and everything went smoothly and quickly. I'm no techie but it sure seems like the USB to MIDI cable I was using was the problem. Sincere thanks for all your input and apologies for wasting time over a simple thing like a bad cord (which I bought new and was told would work).

On a personal note, since you shared it publicly, I administered morphine to my sister for the last few days of her life that was taken by cancer and my wife went through surgery, chemo, and radiation for breast cancer. I would never say I know what someone else is going through, but I can say I have deep empathy for you and your family. I've been here almost 25 years answering questions and look forward to exploring my unit knowing there is a base of knowledge and support powered by people like you.
