Question about portamento: I set my Morningstar and exp pedal to control Portamento On/Off and the exp pedal to time/rate. On many patches, I didn't notice a change. Does portamento need to already be on in the individual patch for these midi cc's to do anything?

If you have some electronics skills and C-programming skills, the Arduino can easily be interfaced with multiple knobs (or sliders) and switches to send whatever MIDI messages you want - it's totally up to you to customize it. I took a voice tab panel from a Farfisa Compact and connected it to an Arduino and use it to control the corresponding tabs on Arturia's Farfisa VST. I also took a set of Farfisa bass pedals and turned them into MIDI bass pedals - both cheap projects and relatively simple in design. My brother built a complete working replica of a Moog 960 sequencer. What you can do is only limited by your imagination, but you do need to be fairly decent at C-programming and wiring up electronics parts.

Needs to be at a non-zero value in the patch itself first. The MIDI command scales whatever is set in the patch so best to set to maximum in the patch if you want full control over the time via MIDI.

So gents with the huge success and sell out of the first run of VIP's, how do you feel about......
- orientation training via zoom ?
- youtube basic training on Pc/pedal connectivity, Basic user interface ?
- additional chapters on creating new sounds using the synth interface. ?
I would absolutely be comfortable paying a fee to become adept at all this pedal offers. A live webcast would be very helpful, and I would venture to guess attendance will be substantial.
As wonderful as this pedal is, I have still not found it to be as intuitive and easy to connect and manage via PC vs offerings from ZOOM, Line6, Singular Sound, amongst others.
I WANT to be a master of manipulating the features of this wonderful pedal, and would be willing to pay for that ability.
Does Panda Audio have an interest in a paid training model?

I wish I could afford a Mortrix. It seems like the way to go in so many scenarios.
I have a heavy season over the next four months and need to setup a setlist in the presets so i dont have to jump from 5, to 23 to 14 etc. Ironically the VIP's smaller chassis makes seeing the digital display more difficult when switching presets. I'd consider a trade with anyone that's got the original chassis. I can see the display a bit better on that.

If their all VA you can rearrange in the editor. You could then put the presets in order of your gig setlist too if you wanted.
The only thing I've been able to do so far is connect the MIDI/USB between the PC and the pedal, and upload V4.5 software. Still haven't figured how to get the presets from the pedal to the editor. Which is why I'd made the comment that unlike zoom or singular sound, where the pedal presets automatically load into those PC editors. the FI doesn't.
I have alot of manual studying to do. Which I HATE. I had to upload drivers for the MIDI connection cable, just to get the PC to recognize the VIP. AND if another MIDI device is connected to the PC, it won't work. This is new stuff to me. And an additional step that other devices do not require. This is also why non intuitive connectivity and interfacing is a detriment to any product offering. When its harder to use, harder to manipulate, its harder to love.
But I know this is better for me than the C3 or the MXR. I used the V3 for years with great success just by using the existing presets. It tracked incredibly well, and sounded great. But I didn't use it to its fullest due to my ineptitude with its programming/editing.
But now my 80's gig has multiple synth bass requirements ( Eurythmics, Depeche, A-ha, Soft Cell, peter Gabriel, and more!)
And I want to take advantage of the Chorus, Octaver and other standalone effects the pedal provides. Its just that the learning curve seems daunting.
That's why I'm chomping at the bit to get some vids that'll prime the pump, get the presets where i can manipulate them and create the setlist. get it setup, and just leave it. That's where I'm at now.

Ok ill do my best to help you get there. Every time you open the software editor you have to go to MIDI/Preferences tab and make sure it's Input-USB MIDI 0 and Output-USB MIDI. Once that's done you should be able to click on Manager tab then click download from FI. It should then download presets from your FI to the tiles. Click to checkmark the swap box in top right corner. You can now click and drag a prest to another to swap. Once done click square save box to save to PC then last step click upload to FI. It'll warn saying this will erase current presets etc. Thats ok cause your uploading new preset list. Hope that helps. Cheers 
The biggest problem with the creators of many of today’s pedals is that they assume that everyone has the same technical expertise as they do when in fact most of us are quite simply musicians, not technical gurus.
MXR got nearly everything right on the bass synth. The sounds are top notch and operation is a breeze. If the tracking would have been a lot better the new Future Impact V4 VIP would be a non-factor. We “plug-n-play” guys, which we are many, need help and guidance.
Would someone please produce some in-depth videos on how to download, program and access everything in the V4? I bought the new V4 with the 4.5 update already installed and I’m still lost. Please “dumb it down” for many of us.

The manual is lengthy and detailed but is very accurate. I had to read it slow and think about what's really going on. Ive had 2 weeks with diving in as a noob before but once you learn it your like I get it and the manual is dead on.
