Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Current V4 owners running V4.12 or V4.5 firmware are encouraged to install the free upgrade. Download it from www.panda-audio.com. We hope you enjoy the new firmware!
When I go to update the firmware with the chrome browser; it reads:
The latest future Impact is 4.50
Is it actually the 4.51 version of the firmware. or am I in the wrong place?

Hmmm, Mac editor still at 4.50. Tried updating via DL and editor (chrome method only gives the 4.50 option), unit says 4.51 on boot but no FM sounds only VA settings work. Not sure what I did wrong. Press both buttons to get Glb, not sure what to press next to get 'em back! Perhaps must wait for new Mac editor?

This is covered in the addendum; please read the part about firmware upgrade. You need to initialise the FM sounds (or all global settings) after a firmware upgrade for the FM sounds to work.

Wait…the relevant instructions aren’t in the 4.51 addendum?
As stated in the 4.51 addendum (which, assuming from your response, you haven’t yet read), the instructions are now shown on the screen as you do the update. It talks you through the whole process. If users choose to not read them at that point there’s really no hope for them. :-)

LOL I didn't even see the release notes .pdf, but kept searching for it :)

I was looking for the sustain/freeze for FM and hoping it would somehow be possible.

"FI_4_version_history_v4.51.pdf"

Version 4.51 4/30/2026
3. MIDI CC64 (Sustain) for FM implemented

Tested NOT working in FM, but still working in VA on FW v4.51.

I'm expecting the sustain/freeze to work on any sound in VA and FM mode, so no need to have a certain setting in FI editor right?

As with VA, if you want infinite sustain, it needs to be a patch whose envelope has a non-zero envelope sustain. Otherwise it just allows the decay stage to fully complete just as if you had held down a key on a keyboard.

Yeah, so if you can hold a note with either FIeditor keyboard or Bass then sustain/freeze should also work in either VA/FM (non-zero envelope sustain).
But if the note automatically decays by itself, as with an intentional zero envelope sustain built-in, then you cannot sustain/freeze.
I will test this ....

Correct.

Easiest way to test is to find a patch which sustains infinitely when using the editor’s keyboard. This should then sustain by sending CC64 before releasing the key/stopping the string.

Thanks, this was the thing .... the first FM preset is with zero envelope sustain and I just didn't test sustain on others lol.
The sustain now works as intended for both VA and FM.

You can make this smooth tone change with sustain, super useful :)

How quick was this bug fix turn-around, good work and we are so lucky ;)

Glad to hear it. You had me worried. I had tested the FM sustain.

Yeah I quickly had to accept the fact that zero envelope sustain is a thing; didn't even think about it for this pedal. It makes perfect sense of course.
The sustain is not like a freeze pedal (looping a sample snapshot), but a built-in part of the sound envelope, with the advantages this gives.

The Ampero Switch is very low profile and works great in front...
