I have one. Paid $150 back in the day and was shocked when I saw what they are going for now. Fun pedal, but never had a place for it live or in the studio.

I've never had one either. DI owners, is there anything that a Deep Impact can do that a BSW, or SYB5 can't do? I can't say I'd be interested without knowing.

I'm kind of curious on the opposite. Does the DI cover everything you can get out of a Digitech BSW or Behringer BSY600? Having those two boxes in a true bypass pedal alone would be somewhat worth it to me.

I bought and returned the SYB5 before I got the SB1. My memory is a little fuzzy, but the SB1 tracked better and the synth sound was superior. The presets were a definite bonus.

I read the thread, it is very interesting!


There is much ******** around now, about re-issue, Akai, etc.

1.The new product (temporary name: Future Impact) is not a re-issue, it is completely new hardware and software.

2.As it is a completely new design and Akai had no patents on the product design, there are no legal issues.

3.It is not just a plan, a working prototype exist. A production prototype is expected in early 2015.

4.Just to make it clear, I am working for Fishman just as in the last ten years, but I may realize product ideas within my own company, Panda-Audio Ltd., that are out of their interest.


“not a re-issue” means that the Future Impact compares to the original just as a brand new Porsche that can emulate a VW Beetle of the last century. It has hundreds of new features and quality improvements, I will make a feature list with comparison to the Deep Impact; just as an example, while Deep Impact generates sawtooth oscillators at 32 kHz (this is the reason of rough sounds in the high range), Future Impact does that at 706 kHz. So, it will have much better quality and a lot of new features, while it is able to generate exactly the same sounds and it will have the same user interface. The only difference is that it will have three display digits instead of the original two; One more digit shows Bank Number, that can be stepped through 10 banks of 10 sounds each. The very first bank is VINTAGE, the other 9 are new sounds with superb features. These can be edited on computer through USB. There will be a MIDI input, partly to remote control sound, bank and parameter changes, but most importantly for using it as a high end Mini Moog expander, so it could be an instrument for keyboard players as well. OK, more about these later.

The Panda email is certainly more assuring for fruition than anything in the SA synth thread.
By the time it becomes available, I might have my EHX Benign already. Now that would be fun, a B9 into the Deeper Impact or vice versa.

Lastly, a suggestion peepulls: please don't shorten Deep Impact to "DI", it's messin' with my head! "DI" = direct injection, such as a Reddi, Countryman or Radial JDV etc...

Please include some sounds that the EHX Bass Microsynth does. That way it can replace the BMS on pedal boards, as well as being programmable (finally).

I'd probably buy one, although I doubt I'd get to use it often. I could see paying $200-$250 given the development costs for a small company, and the fact that they probably won't do huge volume in terms of units sold. If nothing else I'd love to see the ridiculous eBay prices on the originals tank.

Never thought I'd want a synth pedal until I came across this thread but now... I think I have to get this pedal when it comes out! Probably going to pick up a Behringer BSY600 in the meantime to inexpensively introduce me to the world of synth pedals
