Of course I cannot be 100 percent sure, but I get the impression this would be a more limited release than the original. As someone mentioned, I just can't see it leaving retailers for less than at least big Strymon prices, if not more. We need a decent $200 synth pedal, and I just don't see a Deep Impact reissue filling that gap, if it ever came at all. I would love more than anything to be wrong, but the market for dedicated synth pedals has been marginal at best, and no big company in their right mind would take on a project similar to this and make enough of them to sell at that low a price point.

I don't think the DI had much more going on than the Markbass and that sells for $250. Same with the Pro format of Source Sudio stuff. Im not a marketing pro and I never tried the Strymon stuff so I can't explain why they cost so much. The original price of he Impact wasn't too insane was it? I don't see why this box couldnt be less than 300.

If you approach Moogs Bass Synth in prices ($500ish) you got to make my bass sound and track just as good as a Moog to get my money.

$200-300 and I'll bite pending some demo implying it sounds ok.

Also, if tracking is digital and fantastic, please please please include a midi output!

I predict the Beat Buddy never retails over $250. There was similar interest here when it was mooted and many TB suggestions/demands made it into the design.

If this thing was stereo out it might have more uses for keyboards and guitars.

Make it easy for fools like me to use. I might make 3 or four patches to use over a set. I want an on/off and a quick way to get to the sound I want without twiddling.

I'm a little confused on your Beat Buddy comment. You predicted that back then? Or you are predicting it now? Because I'm pretty sure they are going forward with a retail price of $349.

I bet you're right, Downunderwonder, re Beat Buddy retail; I recall reading on the BB thread it was to be $350 street, though. Maybe the person who said that meant MSRP, which is always substantially higher than street.

As for the ADI re-issue (*note, not "DI", peoples) it would definitely benefit from Stereo-IN, not just stereo-out.

Lokki, please pass it on to Panda: We want stereo in and out! Simple UI, some basic User patch presets.

How will stereo in works in a synth pedal? I doubt this will happen though as tracking will be an issue,

Most synth pedals work best with hot clean signal. If he is able to design a synth pedal which is able to take in stereo chorus/delay/any modulation pedals, he would have found some weird algorithm that no other company found before

Argh. Right you are willbassyeah. I'm an idiot. Unless... essentially two devices stuffed into one box.

I was just thinking for mass marketing it would be good for say, keyboards with stereo outs or pedals that already split the signal into stereo such as some delays, reverbs, choruses, etc., ... I forgot the thing'll need a strong clean signal. As most here have surmised about me...




I'll resume lurking and hopefully learn something.

I understand that, re: MSRP. However, the Beat Buddy is going for $249 right now with the final pre-orders. I'd be a little surprised if the current pre-order price becomes the final retail price.

Count me in!

I have a MBSS which like a lot. However the thing I really dislike is the need for a computer even for saving small changes. I would like a USB editor but the ability to fine tune on the fly is very important! As far as MIDI goes I would love to be able to sync to midi clock but it is not a must for me.

My only input -> basic editing and saving on-board (and please no crazy dozens of menus like in the squeezer)

How about editing via a smartphone app? That's what all the cool kids seem to be doing these days.

That is indeed cool, but I would be satisfied with extensive MIDI---not just taking MIDI clock, but accepting MIDI CC. That way you could effectively edit without hooking up to computer through USB.

I know everyone is just geeking out but a lot of the stuff being suggested would drive the price even further through the roof. If it happens I'd like to see him keep it as simple as possible. No need for stereo, MIDI plugs, expression, smartphone crap, etc. Just throw a USB on it, write a simple WPF app for editing, and be done with it.

I understand that perspective, but if it doesn't at least have MIDI that would be a big disappointment. MIDI is super powerful and the universal language of musical effects. Without MIDI I would still be intrigued, but my max price would drop, and I would be more inclined to wait on Source Audio.
