Fuzz addict club! If you don't like it fuzz off!

I guess I qualify now...

Got 3 pedals capable of fuzz on there...MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe and the new Bass Distortion (which absolutely kills), and that seemingly blank pedal next to the Bass D is a JohnK Animato clone with an etched front that washed out due to the flash and the angle. Animato's a really odd bird that can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Also have a couple other fuzz pedals, a couple OD pedals that coincidentally do convincing fuzz, and I've owned and gotten rid of 4 others. I'm not nearly as bad as some of you, but I'm getting there.

Can't wait to try that new MXR Bass Distortion. I always forget how huge those Reddis are. Wowza!

I'll get number sorted out probably tomorrow. Nice board Jimmy!

So I just got my big game muff, and it rips! I had an earlier one he made that I like quite a bit. But this one is more my style I think. It has the older diodes more authentic to a green muff. It sounds fantastic. It's a greenie with mid control, tone bypass and diodes selection. Pretty happy :)

I also got his OCD beta tester. I'm warring between it and my fulltone. I'm so used to the fulltone it's rough. What I'm gonna do though, is I'm going to take the fulltone and clean blend off my board and leave the big game there. It'll force me to get used to it. The little tweaks and tonal options he added are cool too. He even added a boost with a gate built into it so it actually gets into fuzz territory!

As a beginner who loved the sound and didn't know better, I own only one Fuzz pedal. Sadly, it's the dreaded Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff Pi. However, since you all seem like pretty huge into the fuzz department, may I ask if you have any good bands, or songs, that use fuzz bass in it (Except Muse...)?

I mostly bought mine because of the heavy distorted bass in Stoner Rock and Metal, in bands such as Sleep, Om, Stoned Jesus and so on. I'm quite curious of your inspiration to buy such a pedal. Thanks!

Those are some good bands to be influenced by, especially on the fuzz front! Another fuzz ridden Doom band I have been listening to is Monolord.

Fuzz can be found in far less heavy music though. I wish I had some good examples floating on my head but I am drawing blanks at the moment.

For me my love of effects is what got me into fuzz. Once I played through one I was hooked and knew I had to try as many as I possibly could. They never seem to stop making them either so the journey is never ending. To me it's one of those effects that even though there are so many of them each one can be different and unique from the other. Subtle or drastic. Whereas I found a lot of OD to be more similar and less unique from one to the other with some definite exceptions of course. That's my take on it. Either way welcome to the land of fuzz. :)

Here's a few of my early fuzz influences...

Paul McCartney playing a second lead line on bass with a Tonebender:

Mel Schacher cranking the bejeebers out of a stack of West guitar amps:

Felix Pappalardi cranking the bejabbers out of a wall of Sunn amps:
