G. Gould Club!

Hey all! I picked up this G.Gould over the weekend and I’m really loving it. It’s interesting... in looking at the G.Gould Facebook page I noted this same bass was a NAMM bass in 2019, but it was passive only with two knobs then. I thought it may just look similar, but it’s the same serial number. It’s since been modded to become active. Anyways, really enjoying it and just thought I’d share the G.Gould love!

I'm really curious about the tone in passive, too bad the mod does not seem to include a passive/active switch.

I hope it was made with a convenient battery box too

Still kicking myself for not jumping on that Deep Space shell pink, in mid-scale or short-scale version that would be even better!

It is active/passive actually, the volume knob is push/pull. I’ve been just playing it in active since I picked it up, so I can’t speak to the passive tone quite yet.. but it seems like it sounds great however :D The battery is just in the rear cavity accessed via 6 screws, no battery box.

We'll be waiting for the NBD picture, it did not stay long online but that was a rosewood fretboard right? I prefer a phenolic one but I'm not sure what kind of difference it makes

I'm still in full honey moon with mine, I thought I would rotate another bass for our gig next week but I'll keep the GGi5

I can post when it arrives. I might have it refinished. The black is cool but also kinda banal at the same time. Could be fun to put a ridiculous heavy flake finish on it for example.

Hey @GeoffGould and club need some advice.

I just bought #1177 and the access to the Truss rod is super tight. So much so that I can’t really turn it or even figure out what size wrench to use.

can you guys provide some tips about how to get in there and effectively adjust the truss rod without tearing up the surrounding finish?

Thanks everyone!
