My ggi6 is fretted and has a Rosewood? fingerboard. I use D'Adarrio EXL-170-5-SL and add a .032 C string. I use the same set on my Roscoe Century FL.
If your ggi6 fl has a phenolic fingerboard you are able to use roundwound strings since fingerboard wear will be minimal. My Roscoe has a diamondwood fingerboard so wear is not an issue.

Thanks. I wasn't worried about wear with the phenolic fingerboard, moreso investigating the sound of an option with which I have little experience.

Hard to say. I used to have an office at 23rd and Irving. It does look pretty sandy in that area!

To respond to this: I have used TI strings on my upright basses for years. They sound great, are very consistent and last a long time. I have TI Jazz Flats on several of my electric basses and love them. Much like the upright strings in that they sound great, are very consistent and long lasting. They are, however, expensive. You can console yourself with the fact that really inexpensive (not usable for me) upright strings cost about $140 a set and the really expensive ones are over $600. The upright strings I use can usually be found for about $300 or a little less.
I used Pedulla Buzz basses for many years but sold my Pentabuzz when I got my Roscoe fl 6. The Roscoe is a better bass IMO.

Here's my buddy #1438 with its cute little crooked smile.
I swapped out the ABM bridge and the EMG knobs for a Hipshot (still went with 17.5mm spacing) and Gotoh domes and it's more or less perfect now, albeit about a pound heavier. Didn't impact the balance much as it didn't dive before and it most certainly doesn't now. I found an old post here where Geoff was really pleading his case to stick with 17.5 and it convinced me. I'm glad I stuck with it, this has become my main bass now! I fear the Gould bug has bitten me though, and there might be an SST in my future.
As you can see in the last pic, the inlays are slightly misaligned. Must have been a Friday! I think it's kinda cute. I looked at dozens of other GGi5s and this seems to be the only one with the inlays being off center. I feel quite special.
On a side note holy crap the truss rod was so stiff lol. After I put on the bridge I also decided to try the Custom blend for the strings and when I went to set it up and adjust it I was so scared I was going to strip the truss rod nut! Most harrowing 8th of a turn I've ever experienced. The custom blend are very nice though. Dying to know who makes them!
Anyway I just wanted to say hello!

That is one of the minor complaints I have about Geoff's basses. Your bass has the typical misalignment of the inlays with the A string. My ggi5 is the same and so were the other two I owned.
That is a good plan. My ggi5 and ggi6 are just fantastic. This is the best of the three ggi5's I have owned and I have no plans to get more or sell these. My ggi6 is under 9 pounds and that is amazing for a 6 string. My fretted Roscoe SKB 6 is close to 11 pounds.

I don't want to make excuses, things do happen, but you should know one thing. On a five string bass, the way I slot a nut, pushes the strings away from the center due to equidistant spacing between the strings, as opposed to between the center of the strings.
Plus, a slight change in the camera angle makes a big difference!

It's not a bug, it's a feature! By offsetting the inlays the crowd is able to see them better instead of them hiding behind the strings!
That's an incredible weight for a bass in general but for a 6 string that's amazingly light. Mine came in at around 8.5 pounds! My lightest weight is my Kiesel Zeus 4 at a practically non-existent 7.1 pounds. My 5 string Vader is 8.1, and my Thumb is 12 haha.

I don’t know about following a trend, but back in the days of Modulus that’s how we used to slot the nut. The B string is so big that it takes up a significant amount of space on the nut, and it gets crowded between the strings.
Not Goulds, but I have 3 5 strings with face dots, and all of them are similar to that, so Geoff is just following the trends

I want to believe mine is very special and for some reason the 35 scale does not bother me too much (I still prefer 34)
(Yes I know...I should get some of the 34 inch / 26 fret gould...not a great time for the finance though)
