Does anyone know if there are Ashtray covers that fit on the saddlelock bridge(like a p-bass one)? I have a SB-2 and woud like make it look classic and classy.
Any idea where one can be found? When I still played fender 5's I searched and searched. I never even found 1
Hey guys, I found a used USA G&L SB-1 around here for just $450, but the pickup isn't original. Is there any way to get a hold of a G&L split coil pickup? I've played the bass, and it's awesome, but I'd like to see if I could get a G&L pickup easily before I pounce on it.

I'm pretty sure that's for their guitars. I don't see any bass split coils.
That is a guitar split coil MFD but they do occasionally have the bass split coil MFD available.
Ah. I suppose I should get in on that bass while I still can, then. Aside from the non-original pickup, everything about it seemed just right, aside from a scratch in the finish on the back. I think it had an ash body, with what the tag said was a "vintage sunburst," but seemed more like a cherry sunburst to me, and a maple P-width neck with rosewood fingerboard.
Long time GLeek here. Had an SB-1 in 84 and an est. 82 L2K as a backup since the electronics were intermittent. Sold both in the 90s for more than I paid for them and now buying G&Ls from the 80s for even more. But that's how the vintage stuff goes I guess. Anyway, here's a few pics of my L1000 that I bought in June this year. Spent lots of time getting familiar with it, even 2-3 hours today. Very addictive bass. I've been putting it in bass boost on the micro and backing off the bass on the bass cut with the right amount of treble cut and wow, this bass can make some tone, whew! nice. At first the bass boost mode seemed overwhelming, but using the bass cut to put it just right was the key.
Can I get a #, I will post more 80s SB-2s, L1000s, SB-1s, etc..

Nice hog/maple Reb, that's a wood combo I want to have someday.
It's impressive the tones you can get from these when you use the bass & treble cut controls instead of just running them wide open. The L-1000 is probably the most versatile one-pickup bass ever made.

Does anyone know what kind of finish is on the natural bodied L2500 (including Tribute)? Anyone ever re-fined one of these. I might like to pick one of them up and refinish to have an ash body vs. alder, and I'm not the biggest fan of natural finishes.
