I'm actually back down to five G&L's, sold my two El Toro's, Climax, a couple SB2's, an old SB1, and believe it or not...my '81 L1K & '82 L2K. I actually sold the '81 L1000 and bought a BABP L1000...and am glad I did. I really haven't felt the "mojo" in the older G&L's (and I know that's sacrilege here!) The sound & quality in my newer ones suits me much better, yet I'm an old geezer, so go figure.

The "K" indicates Olde Skewl Switching, with single coil single coil+bass boost, and dual coil parallel, just like my olde L1K's and L2Ke.

I had a 1997 L2500 I loved. Circumstance has twice dictated I liquidate stuff over the last few years, but I've had my eyeballs out for another 2500.
I hope this one is as good as my older one; we'll see...scheduled for tuesday delivery.

IIRC, they switched to flat black bridge, chrome control plate in mid-81. I had one like that at any rate.
I think in early/mid 82 they went to crinkle black for a bit, before going back to chrome all the way round in late 82, early 83.
Can't swear on that time line, and with any Leo product, there's always exceptions.

Chef,
The "K" switch that you refer to. Are you sure its SingleCoil/Single Coil with Bass boost/Parallel? I ordered a 30th Anniversary bass with the "K" switch but I thought it was Series/Parallel/Single Coil. Is the 2500K wired differently?

Not sure, it's not here yet, and, I've had someone else suggest the layout you do.
Which would be just fine, really.

That would add up to "single coil, plus normal current layout," which is just fine.

I very seldom used series on my last one.

Here's my small collection. I can see into the future by the way, and I see my G&L stable growing larger. I really don't see myself ever buying anything other than G&L.

Just got the tribby L2000 and i like it better than the US SB-2. I have debated on trading the SB-2 for a US L2000. Or, I could just keep it and buy a US L2000.

Those are nice basses. I wouldn't sell anything yet. If you could continue to build a nice G&L stable, that'd be nice. I sold an L2k a couple of years ago for the SB2 that I own now. Now I ordered a 30th Anniversary L2k. I wish I'd never had sold the first one I had. I'd like to build a little stable too. Ad an L1k and a 1500. Then a JB2 or JB and and an El Toro.

That should cover it. Right Chef?
