G&L Club Part 3

Good morning all
If someone is handing out G&L club numbers I'll take one. Also people have have Tribi's how do they stack up againsrt USA models? Chef? I saw a BABP 2500 on Ebay for $1600 and did not pull the triger. It looked like yours I'm sorry I didn't cause it's always easier to ask for forgiveness then permission.
Have a great day all!

I didn't buy my BABP2500 off ebay, and I wouldn't have given that much for it.

The tribs have different tuners, different pots and are otherwise about the same.
I don't know if they're plek'd like the us models, but the two i've had were nice for the pricepoint. They were both heavy.

Thanks for the comments. I will have to check on the side dot markers. As far as I recall, I did not actually notice any side markers!

I am still pondering what strings to put on. The flats don't work, I had at some point cut the ends too short and they won't hold tension on a bass with all tuners on one side...

I have to say, I am a bit of a second-class ebayer, as many sellers don't ship outside the u.S. and the selection here is so scarce. I have to get what I can get. Next week, a 1974 Telecaster Bass...

A big thanks to all who posted info about the K wiring I sent the G&L dealer in GB those items and my 2500 goes in on Monday for the K upgrade. thanks again
I did not know about it or could have had it done without you guys!!
Peace & Love

Would you guys recommend having an official G&L dealer do the single coil mod? Or can any guitar tech with half a brain + the schematics figure it out?

I'm about to buy the 3-position on-on-on switch to replace the series/parallel switch so I can get outer single coils. But I don't want somebody to mess up my bass :-(

I don't think we have any "official G&L" dealers here in Vermont.

in talking to the G&L Tech in GB he said we have to order a 4 pos switch to make the k mod. I'm just going by what he said yesterday. I don't know, that's why he is doing it not me LOL.
I would think a good Tech who can read the schematics should be able to do it.
Question is do you trust him?

o.k. everyone, here is the latest G&L Club update.I have gone back through the first and second part of the club as far as numbers go.I have found the last entry Stuggi made was lowfreqgeek #380.This was on page 10 of G&L Club part 2,so I am going to go from there to assign numbers to everyone that requested a number from there.I will pm all of those people, and then come back to let everyone know what number the club is up to. Thanks for your patience. Joe

If I may ask, what circuit did you give your tech to use? Also, who/what is GB?

Question is do you trust him?

No. The question is, do YOU trust him.

Ken...

First gig with the Quarter Pounders in the sunburst JB2 last night. RAWR!!!! I love my sound! The bass looks like a P, and thinks it's a P, but has some J subtleties. Me likey.

Of course, the honey QMT JB2 shall be kept stock, electronically, for studio dates, and occasions when a pure J-bass sound is needed. I can always EQ in more low mids, if I need to.
