I LOVED the various G&L basses I have played and owned.
I will be back for sure.
I just have been dealing with a BAD case of talkbass gas the past few months and have let go of some basses that I will SADLY MISS

It was a specially ordered butterscotch Blonde.
The most amazing birdseye maple board ever!

BUT? SOme lucky TB'er got it for a huge savings.
My Loss = His GAIN!! Big time.

I am dealing with a Major bout of U.S. LAKLAND G.A.S.
Always wanted to try some of the U.S. models.
Now am getting into them in a BIG way.

I will grab another G&L sometime in the not too distant future I am SURE

I posted this pic a while back, but I just want to give a thanks to everyone who (unknowingly) helped me bring this USA L2500 to life. The b string was huge, but a bit "thuddy" and dead. With the bridge mod, lighter guage strings, burying the pickups into the body, and re-aligning the neck the b came roaring to life. It was always big, but the mods brought the same clarity as the other strings. It's a keeper now for sure.

So thanks to Ken Baker and everyone else for their ideas. Never met y'all and probably won't ever but my bass and I say thanks.

Well I have one U.S. one now...One import from Korea ( not china ) ...
Another two US on the way...maybe three?
So in time I could better say.

BUT, since this ISSSSS a G&L Club....most likely best to not take up space blaaabin on another brand....members will get a bit ticked off at me...LOL

But at initial thought.
Both are VERY good brands...and Both have their own character and personalities for sure...different ...but alike in a sense...
Just like how a 69 camaro is amazing...and so is a 69 Boss Mach 1.....both cars kicked major tail in similar but yet different ways.

I know one thing, I already sorely miss that butterscotch Blonde.

1997 G&L L-1505. Had a dead coil when first bought (the active switch doesn't work now, but at least series/parallel does now and plays nice in passive mode), plus a slightly overcut nut for the B string. Still, a nice player.

It's essentially installing machine screws through the "string through holes" in the body, and installing your strings through the bridge.

In my case, yes. String height (at the pickups) and making sure the headstock end had good contact with the body of the bass helped as well. But the mod was the biggest thing.

thanks for the insights. looking to possibly get an L-2500 this year and just trying to know what im getting myself into. of course, getting up to BassNW and playing a few would help.

Just traded my special order 2011 Stingray SLO Special for this ASAT. Smartest decision I have made in my bass playing career so far!! Would love a club number and a bit of insight...

I have an opportunity to trade for an L1500 as well. Will it cover the ground that my single H Stingray was covering? Is there more that it can or can not do tonally speaking? I have read about several different "mods" to the L1500 wiring to do different things as well.

I like the G&L #8 neck better than the EBMM SLO neck. The subtle difference in radius has made all the difference to me. Plus, not having 10lbs. on my shoulder has helped as well!

^^^ Nice ASAT! I love the binding, mine is very similar. I really thought I was going to miss my Stingray sound, but these things just do it so much better IMO. It's everything that I expected my Stingray to sound like, only better.

I know I talked about not getting rid of the SR4, but I've been thinking about trying to trade it for an L2K of some sort.

The ASAT is so nice... mine needs a once over. I have some pops & crackles that randomly appear. Also my barrel input jack is junk so its going to the shop.

I really like it, its my in your face bass... much more than my Sterling HH rosewood
