G&L Club Part 4

I had my first chance to gig my ASAT this past weekend. I brought two basses with me, as I usually play one song in D standard and grab a 5er for a few others. I played this puppy all night! I transcribed my D standard song during a break and just dealt with all the positions changes for the rest.
I really like the way these things sound, I wish I found them earlier. I've probably have a few L2K's by now...
For those that want to know:
ASAT-->Boss OC-2/MB SuperSynth/Peterson SS2-->GB STR900-->Bag End S15D's-->Freaking Awesomeness
The output is kinda hot for the OC-2, so I usually switch to passive mode. Even then I may have to dial the volume back a little.

My luthier is confident that the ASAT neck I got for my 1981 L-2000 will be no problem to attach and to set up. I am just waiting to get it here and then we shall see... In the mean time I have looked into the "Jazzy" side of things and been tempted to pull the trigger on a number of basses but so far I have been able to hold back...

you can see that there is no bullet at the end of the truss rod, and the neck looks very similar to the one I bought:

In the L series basses, is the pre amp supposed to hum a little?
It goes away when I touch the strings or the knobs.

I've never known them to hum - hiss, yes, but not hum. Sounds like a grounding issue to me.
What ever the noise, hum or his, I'm just wondering why it goes away when I touch the knobs or the strings or the switches. If its the ground, what is the best remedy?
It goes away because you're grounding the bass with your body.
Open up the cavity and have a look for any loose wires or bad connections.

At least looks-wise it's a better match to my natural weather-checked and yellowed L-2000 E.

As Im not the original owner Im not 100% sure on the woods used in my Asat - see pic below. From the serial # I think she is circa 89 (according to the &G&L website). Any help on this would be very much appreciated as I have decided to sell her as the neck shape is a little chunky for me and I would not like to take a desciption from the G&L website if it is innaccurate for my bass.
Also she is missing an intonation screw and spring, another kind forum member suggested that they may be called filister screws? If anyone would know how I could pick one of these up as I cant find any here in Dublin, Ireland - I would really appreciate it.

As of Jan 16 I'm the new owner of a SB-2. Bought this used, but man the only used looking part of the bass were the strings. Completely love this instrument.
Black metallic fleck has an almost emerald green hue in the light, black guard and a rosewood board. Replaced the chrome pick guard screws with a set of black.
The sound is rich and chunky, smooth and sweet. To describe the feel of the sound visually: like cutting through a big hunk of soft clay with a wire knife. Smooth and controlled with a perfect tactile resistance. My main player now, its only a Tribute model but couldn't be happier. Was a great deal: $450 CND in total (350 + ship and tax) that included a molded G&L hardshell case.
This isn't my actual bass, but this is it baby!

Sorry Chef, I didn't mean to slight you in any way - it is just so darned hard to find these things! And, I am kind of looking forward to the added possibility of having another construction project using the ASAT neck.
