It's not so much that it is rare...
Ya figure it is at the mercy of what dealers order for colors to stock.
Or at the mercy of what customers special order through the dealers.
Regardless if what it is, it is one of my personal top favorite colors that G&L offers. I like the butterscotch blonde and the spanish copper best.

Anybody put flats on their L2000 & ASAT to tame it a bit? I have mine up on the classifields but I"m thinking if I have some flats to mellow her out for church I could make this bad boy work. This is definitely naturally a stand out in the mix rock bass!

I have not put flats on my L2k but I have noticed that I can 'flatten' the sound and take some edge off with the EQ and playing up towards the neck some. I can get a fatter tone when I consciously pluck somewhere closer to the neck. Too close and I lose it. There is a sweet spot. Also I turn the low knob on my amp head up to 3 oclock. On the other hand, you may be of the persuasion of alnico pups.

I have TI's on mine and they work really nicely. SIT power flats work well too, if you want a little grab to the strings.

Here's my G&L Club Entry Ticket.

I have had many many G&L's over the years. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's I was a real big fan and tried to force my G&L love on anyone who would listen. I even got a few intenet forums to have a dedicated G&L room soley to discuss all things G&L bass. But over the years I went back to Music Man, Fender and Yamaha basses. I had been without a G&L for a good while until I scored a killer G&L L5500 here a few months ago. Well I just scored a 2000 Fretless L2000 and it is amazing. Now I just need to find and early 90's fretted L2000 and I will be set. The love is back.

My soon-to-be-delivered ASAT neck will become a Jazz Frankenproject. Traveling on business in Silicon Valley brought me to Gelb Music in Redwood City where I scored 280 dollars worth of parts... I am only missing the body, flying home tomorrow to see if the neck(s) have arrived...
