Just bought it from ebay. L2000 from 1981. Perfect match for my L1000 1982, the same neck and body trans red colour.
I'm very excited.
I was GASing for early tookay since months, and now this one first year production with my favorite colour!

Too funny, I saw this posted earlier in "Part 4" but it has found a home with me now. It sounds great - the walnut adds interesting tonal characteristics... Added is a vrey poor cell phone pic with the rig.

Intriguing. If they're as close to the US models as the Tribby L2K's are (or as mine is, anyway) then I'm in.

I wonder if G&L is giving any consideration to bringing the M-series preamp to the ASATs. That little bit of extra hardware on the body might even help improve balance issues a just tad.

I've been eyeballing the USA M2500...there aren't many out there to be seen.

Then last night I took it for 2 hour practice session and came home thinking: what am I doing?!

I can't let it go. I just know that as soon as someone walks out the door with it I will look at the money and have instant regrets.

I'm having prophylactic regrets

M series Tribute? Sounds like a cool, inexpensive way to introduce folks to this line since barely anyone seems to have gotten their hands on one. I'm intrigued.

here is my, if i remember correctly 1996 or 1997 G&L 1505 in sunburst. I took the battery out for the preamp, so i just run it in passive all the time. I have it strung with DR Legends. This pickup is incredibly loud, and puts out alot of low end. I usually play a 4 string fender p-bass with flats for most of the rock bands i play with, but this bass is seeing alot of playtime lately. I cant get enough of it!

Eevrytime I think of selling my USA SB-2 I plug it in and call myself crazy!

So I just noticed that the headstock logo on my Tribute is different than most I've seen. Can anyone shed some light on why?

It's an older logo, used on the Korean made Tributes, IIRC.

Maybe there are some Korean-made ones with the new logo when they were switching to the Indonesian factory, but I'm not really sure, maybe it was the opposite...

Mine is a Korean made one with the new logo, but the vast majority of the ones with the newer logo are Indonesian made.

On that photo, the 5-string headstock seems to look a bit different from the traditional one - is it really or am I seeing things?
