What's the real difference between parallel and series? I have of course noticed that parallel have much more output than series, and can also hear that the parallel is have a bit more treble or something. But what is it that makes these differences, and why are they there?
It's easier to understand what the rest of the controls do..
Here's a diagram showing the difference:

In parallel the signal goes through both coils at the same time side-by-side while in series it goes through one coil and then the other one.
Here's a link to a page that explains it in more detail.
The Wrecking Crew
My trusted luthier promised to get my 1981 L-2000 E fretboard refurbishing project done by tomorrow. But, he's never been timely to deliver... I miss that monster sound.
oh my that is a beauty !
mad,
That is probably the finest looking take on a J bass I have ever seen. You have chosen beautifully!
Anybody else have a M series yet?
I bought a Tribute 2500 from a friend. I love how it plays and sounds but it has a preamp problem. The signal cuts out intermittently. Does anyone know of this problem? Would you send it back to G&L? Thx!
I plan on getting one sooner than later. If it hadn't been for my son being born a month ago and currently buying a new house, I'm sure I'd already have one!![]()
Priorities and all.
Glad to hear the awesome review from you about yours. Gives me confidence about buying one. Also glad to hear that they're being offered in a Tribute version.
Congrats Bogster! Kids are much rarer than the M-Series is going to be. Enjoy your new life!
Thanks, man! There is a pretty amazing story regarding his delivery, but that's a tale for another thread. All I can say is I feel pretty fortunate and my life is awesome right now.
