What's the real difference between parallel and series? I have of course noticed that parallel have much more output than series, and can also hear that the parallel is have a bit more treble or something. But what is it that makes these differences, and why are they there?

Here's a diagram showing the difference:
In parallel the signal goes through both coils at the same time side-by-side while in series it goes through one coil and then the other one.

...of course, in pickups you do this with inductance (symbol L), not resistance so much (R). Just to be safe, you could use "impendance" (Z).
...sorry, that's the academic side of me speaking...
Beauty L-1000. I've got L-1000 #69, which is also Cherry Red, and it's my main bass, no mods, and lives about 90% of the time in single coil. But sure wish it had the maple. I needed to replace my original '69 Telecaster that had been stolen just as these came out, and a groupie bought it and gave it to me (!!!!). So I couldn't say no, and I'm gonna eventually have a real Tele again anyway.
My trusted luthier promised to get my 1981 L-2000 E fretboard refurbishing project done by tomorrow. But, he's never been timely to deliver... I miss that monster sound.
I really wanna give some of the older G&L's a try.

Thank you, sir. I am truly happy with it. The bass came strung with D'Addario XL Nickels .45-.100 which sound great on it. I'm not a fan of the gauges though, so I ordered a custom set of D'Addario XL's to go on it from http://www.bassstringsonline.com/
I plan on getting one sooner than later. If it hadn't been for my son being born a month ago and currently buying a new house, I'm sure I'd already have one!

I bought a Tribute 2500 from a friend. I love how it plays and sounds but it has a preamp problem. The signal cuts out intermittently. Does anyone know of this problem? Would you send it back to G&L? Thx!
