What a lovely instrument. Glad to see that it's no longer theoretical.
Unlikely that I'd take advantage myself, both because I dread potential QC issues and because I've already ordered my RMC "P on steroids" from Sandberg a couple of months back.
All the same, looking forward to someone utilizing this option on an SB-1 so I can properly drool.

Frankly, had I known how much I'd dislike the pickguard, I would've opted for the L-1000 rather than the SB-1, I think I would've been happier despite the humbucker instead of the splitcoil.

USPS is the worst way to ship anything of value. Not sure who decided to use them for a bass but you should consider that bass gone. Sorry to say. Hope you at least get your money back.

OMG basically puts the pickup coils in series. There might be something more to it than that, but that's where it starts. My Kiloton has a single MFD humbucker with same switch, and it's single coil in the middle with parallel to one side and series to the other, but I don't know if the electronics of the two basses are the same. I suggest you post your question on bassesbyleo.com/forum. The folks on that forum are very knowledgeable about the intricacies of the inner workings of G&L basses. BTW, I never play my Kiloton in series mode. I play direct through a sound system with subwoofers. In series, I'm afraid it will vibrate the fillings out of people's teeth, including mine.

It puts the coils in series, but also applies a capacitor to one of the coils, bleeding off some highs to produce a bass boost. Good for rattling fillings loose, light demolition work, etc.

It's not a bass boost since it's removing frequency content and is entirely passive.:whistle: The apparent boost is due to the pickup being in series mode (versus single coil or parallel mode) and, since treble is being bled off, the overall *effect* is that you've engaged a bass boost.:wideyed:

That what I get for writing the post while 1/4 awake. I'd thought I'd written "apparent bass boost", but I guess not. It's subtracting high frequencies, not magically adding low frequencies (though it is greater proportion of bass frequencies with it engaged).

I wired my L2K for it (amongst a number of other switching mods), it just felt like too much for my tastes, so I never use it.
