I have a machine shop background and I'm not so sure trying to re-crimp the part at home would work unless you have an arbor press. I think the slot was cut too wide and that it needs to be much tighter tolerances since there is a very small clamping area.
I must have played 100 Fender basses and never had this issue. With 2 tributes and 1 US model I had the problem: *with the nearly $2K US JB*. QC is not a strongpoint for G&L. One of my tributes (JB2) had a pup fail as the cavity was much too tight and it was force fit into place.

Hey! So I just ordered a G&L L2500 Series 750 because who doesn't want a big chonking 5er?

I also picked up this fretless M-2000 custom G&L with 1.75" nut width for a song... can I get a membership number?

I contacted G&L and asked what the kind of glue I should use. Instead, the guy apologized and asked for my address saying they are going to send me a new tuner. That's service right there! Thanks for the idea @jglunt, I appreciate it!

Here ya go: G&L Wiring Diagrams and Schematics

I did the k-mod (adding single coil mode and keeping parallel and series). Mod was super easy actually. Just a bit of soldering.

Series is a different beast. I didn't like or use it for a long time, but then came to like it more than parallel (though single coil mode is by far my favorite). It's incredible how many different sounds one bass can produce.

By the time the lost bass had been unearthed and cajoled back to true legitimacy, I was heartily sick of thinking of it, but I'm still really proud of the combination of specs. Sometimes I had this odd feeling that fate needed me to get it made, but then insisted that I not have it myself :ninja: This will be an instrument with a very clear, very strong character: sunny looks, easy physical demands, but an awesome sound. I wonder who will be the person going, yes, this is exactly what I want ... :jawdrop: ... how on earth has it fallen into my lap like this ...?

UPDATE: Ok, received it earlier today. Here is my accurate impression of this bass. Played nicely out of the box with a tuneup. Now the real stuff. I needed to slightly raise the E String to stop slight buzz on on frets when pressed at 15th fret an higher. Adjusted intonation (using a Peterson VS-1 Virtual Strobe) of all but the D string. The G was really sharp. A was a little sharp and E was pretty sharp but not as bad as the G. Now checking each string at each fret, each note was precisely in tune using strobe tuner. Some did go slightly sharp at the 14th and above but not that bad and I don't typically play above the 12th anyway. There are absolutely NO dead spots anywhere and sustain is awesome. Now for pickups. String to String balance is excellent.They sound really good and are as hot as my Active bass. I had to turn the 10db switch off. This bass is killer. It's neck is the same width as my 2017 Fender American Pro Jazz bass but has a more rounded C back vs. my narrower (front to back D shape) on my Fender. No noise on the P pickup but as I figured when you dial the J bridge pickup to max it introduces some buzz. I can dial back the volume pot for the J pup to 3/4 and buzz ceases (unless I have the P off off coarse). EXCELLENT tone. I do admit I don't know why anyone would leave a tone control off a bass but is what it is. The Tuners on this bass are very good! Better than the ones on Fender Standard Basses with similar keys. They are heavier duty and operated smoothly and not loose in any way. This bass is beautifully made! If I ever get rid of any of my basses, this will not be one :)

Musicians Friend lists the nut width as 1.75" on their old stock and do not list a nut width on their new stock. Sweetwater lists the nut width on their old stock and new stock alike as 1.625". So now that all is plain as mud, I went to my studio and measured mine (ser.# indicates it's a 2019). It comes in precisely between the two at 1 9/16". Since we're not building a space ship here, I suggest to each his own. In other words, take your pick and you're right! BTW, the finish on the neck of my LB-100 is clear gloss, but the specs on the new ones according to G&L says "satin." Also, Sweetwater lists the pickup on the new ones as a Cort and on the old ones as a G&L.

Well, I went ahead and ordered a "new" Tribute LB-100 in Emerald Blue despite concerns about the possibility of a 1.75" neck width as specified on the G&L website. Remember also that I noted the new white one listed at Sweetwater at 1.5" and the Emerald Blue at 1.625". It arrived today and I can provide an in hand measurement of neck width at the nut. I come up with 42mm = 1.654". I'll give the benefit of the doubt of my measuring skills to Sweetwater and say they came closest at 1.625". In any event, it's clearly not 1.5" and it's not 1.75"

On to the bass itself, it has exceeded my expectations. Plays wonderfully, well intonated out of the box, nice weight at 8 lbs, 7 oz. One QC issue to report is that the tone control does nothing. I'll assume it's a bad connection and will fix it myself. The bass is a keeper.

Oh, and the neck finish is satin rather than gloss.

I origionally put an order in to Sweetwater for this exact same one. It is gordeous. I changed my mind as it was not in stock and didn't know when they would come in so I went for an SB-2 in Surf Green. Did you order the last one or did they just come in. I tried last Saturday.There have been very few guitar's and basses I have stuck with the pickups stock but this is one I will not change. Totally fabulous tone
