Thank you for the link, I had seen but not read it before... 1333 posts as of today. Anyway, for 5 strings, only one set exists (44-128).Yup. Not so much black or white and more like different shades of grey Glazenn. You got it and you've experienced this same thing before with Chromes.

Somewhere, I think in that big PW thread, is a discussion of mixing the single .128 B with various other gauges. I think .128 is the only B string size, but it seems to play well with others. As for supplying single B strings, maybe that's in there as well. Check Fret Nation maybe.

Not many vendors here in Europe have this M7200-5 set available.
I have found and ordered from one in France with a very reasonable price tag with shipping included.
Shipping a single set from the USA + local customs (24% over goods and shipping) = deal killer...
On my basses, I have ECB81 Chromes, GHS Precision flats, and La Bella LTF.
Awful slapping technique anyway.

Ha, born and raised in Chi, also. Yeah it can get pretty nasty there in winter. I once spent a winter in Antigo, WI though, which made Chi seem like Florida.
I see you're in CO. I lived there for 14 years, working in the Blackhawk casinos. 11 years down in Denver, and 3 up in beautiful Gilpin County. I was expecting harsh winters up there, but found the climate to be pretty moderate. In fact, if I could get my motorcycle from the garage to the paved street, I could ride all winter long, between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Typical route was Rt 119 over to Nederland then down Boulder Canyon for lunch in Boulder.

Speaking of @lbbc, he mentioned to me that G&L says the screw pattern for the Tribute Fallout is the same as the US ones. So that might be worth a try.
LOL, not only am I very familiar with all of your former Colorado haunts including the Blackhawk Casino Isle of Capri where I played many gigs and a few others as well but I've also traveled 119 up and down Boulder Canyon dozens of times.
I'm also familiar with Antigo, WI having lived in NE Wisconsin. In fact I can recall playing a county fair gig there under a shell with a driving rainstorm creating a river of water that was slowly creeping towards our feet. We ended our show a bit early that day.....LOL.
I thought you might be. I was there in Jan & Feb of '89 attending a 9 week training course to fab neon signs. What I found fascinating was that every store, motel, the hospital, bowling alley, etc., could be reached at the rear via snowmobile. Of course, Antigo is what?...40 mi south of Eagle River, the snowmobile capitol of the world?

Here's my fave JB-2. I sometimes think about maybe selling but I know I'd regret it. I'll never find another one that's as exceptional in every way.
A tad over 8lbs, quartersawn #8 neck, vintage gloss tint (the neck finish looks darker in person), Premier Honeyburst over a pretty nice hunka ash (IMHO). It likes all types of strings, but with a set of 100ga DTF's it sounds.....gigantic.

That's winter in northern Wisconsin. You either ice fish, bowl, or snowmobile all with the appropriate quantity of beer for refreshment. There are hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails to explore and when the snow gets too bad just park the car or truck and take the snowmobile.
At first I didn't like the Pressurewounds paired with MFDs but once they break in I think they are quite nice. Have some on an sb-2 and an l2500.
Of course, you'll still need basses for flats, at the least
I've been reading about OMG mode as it originally existed in L2Ks vintage 1998 and before (I read that date in this thread), about how it shunted one coil to ground which made it act like a single coil pickup with a bass boost in series mode. The only bad side effect being that it added hum. I'm sure I'm going to get varying responses to this question, but is it really worth having the work done to get this? I'm leaning against it, as I do like how mine sounds as it is, but is it really that much of a game changer? I know asking for opinions can be dangerous, just please take into account that I don't think I've ever heard this legendary OMG mode before.
I don't currently have an L2K, but I had both an L2k & L2500. I do currently have a Kiloton, which is completely stock. I didn't feel in series mode that any of them needed the OMG cap. If i want to duplicate that, I can cut the treble on my amp. Why cut the treble, you ask? Because in OMG mode, there is no bass boost. There is a treble cut on one coil, making it sound like bass is boosted. It's a very clever bit of slight of hand, and our ears fall for it every time.
OMG is my least favorite mode on my Fallout Bass. It goes a little too muddy for my taste. I also agree with the prior comment that similar sound can be achieved with some treble cut. I prefer the normal Series mode on my L2500 and Kiloton to the OMG mode switch. I see where people might like it, but not for me.
Having had several basses with both OMG and standard series, I prefer the OMG, though I don't see anything wrong with the standard series mode. (That's a good reason to have both, right?)
One trick with the OMG mode, if you wanted… the original L-2000 circuit made both rear coils the "single coil" and both neck coils the one that runs through the cap. This means that you would get double the hum with both pickups on.
You can switch the wiring around on one pickup to make the opposite coil the "single coil" and get hum canceling when both pickups are on. My L-2000 has both inside coils as the "single coil" and the outside coils as the shunted coils. You can get subtly different flavors when you mess with which coil is which.
