Having had several basses with both OMG and standard series, I prefer the OMG, though I don't see anything wrong with the standard series mode. (That's a good reason to have both, right?)

One trick with the OMG mode, if you wanted… the original L-2000 circuit made both rear coils the "single coil" and both neck coils the one that runs through the cap. This means that you would get double the hum with both pickups on.
You can switch the wiring around on one pickup to make the opposite coil the "single coil" and get hum canceling when both pickups are on. My L-2000 has both inside coils as the "single coil" and the outside coils as the shunted coils. You can get subtly different flavors when you mess with which coil is which.

That makes perfect sense. What you are actually doing is making a single humbucker using one coil from each pickup. They just have to be the right coils.

At first I didn't like the Pressurewounds paired with MFDs but once they break in I think they are quite nice. Have some on an sb-2 and an l2500.
Of course, you'll still need basses for flats, at the least

I found the same result initially. When compared to how they sounded on my Jazz Bass the the broader dynamic range of the MFDs really accentuated their high end and harmonics so much so I thought I'd gotten a set of rounds that were mistakenly packaged as Pressurewounds. They do settle in nicely after a few hours play though.

What J pickups do you have in there and how do they match up with the split coil MFD? Looks to me like a Delano in one and Dimarzio in the other, but what models?

Exactly right!
The MFD in the fretless is great now, it was a bit overpowering, I lowered it and it's better.
I installed the Delano JMVC-4FE to get a bit more bite when I need to solo, so it's just an accessory.
On the red bass it's a Dimarzio Model J and it matches really nicely, I have a set on my Japanese fretless JB-62 and they work just great.
The fretless has Labella 760fs and the fretted 760FL.

I initially had EMG geezers on the fretless and the G&L on my 32" project, but because the bridge pickup is so close to the bridge they didn't mesh, so the lower levels on the EMG work better there.

Here's the 32" P/MM before I swapped the EMG into it.
Below are my Fender and Fender-inspired basses.
I have 2 G&L (below) and 4 Laklands (not pictured).

Bought it as a DYI fretless in horrible condition.
The JJ route was present before, but it was a catastrophic project idea by the seller.
Anyway, scooped it up for €140 shipped.
I refinished it, I was going for that dark blue on some L2000 and L1000, that are just gorgeous.
I went a bit dark, then a bit too light. It's good, but I wanted it to look different.
Our very own @Pilgrim sold me his JB neck, as he got one with the wrong number of frets. I had to square it off a bit, and a friend brought it to Europe from the US.
That's it! It sounds really great and I've lent it to a friend who can use it, at 12 basses and counting it's getting a bit crowded.
Here are the process pics:

I've actually thought about picking up a Tribute JB-2 and putting in a dual bucker on the bridge like that. Definitely cool to see it realized.

I accidentally broke the neck pickup, it's not stock. The J ones are kind of hacked together, the tabs dremeled off and epoxied together.

What are the stock strings on the USA G&L Fallouts? I received what is supposed to be a new bass today but it was missing the hang tag and hex wrenches and it came with what look to be GHS boomers (gold silks and brass ball ends).

I tossed whatever the stock strings are and went for La Bella 760FS. Ideally I would've gotten an even heavier gauge, but these are staying for good, they sound amazing, especially with a pick.

I have 760FS-Ms ready to go. Wanted to see if I actually got a new one or a return.

I'm pretty certain they're supposed to be D'Addario XL170s if D'Addario makes a short scale version of those. I would contact G&L to make sure. They might have switched suppliers.

My current lineup of G&L basses, and their custom leathers. JB, L-2000, SB-1, M-2000. I still want a couple more! I have a lot of tonal possibilities between these basses, I enjoy the different sounds and colors. A bit of a bummer, my option order, empress body Andromeda L-2000, the neck warped after a month and I had to send it back to California and they replaced the neck. But its back and plays decent now. Happy New Year to everyone, it's nice to chat and read about basses !

Has anyone ever used the neck angle adjustment at the neck heel..just curious as to how much it might change the string vibration transfer..would it undo all the amazing inovation that George and Leo put into these instruments to improve sound vibration transfer..I have a 81' L1000 and its absolutely perfect..
