Make sense to me. I know that sometimes the thickness of clear coats on necks could vary quite a bit.

To wit: Bought this new ASAT (long gone) back ~ 2005. The satin finish on the neck was so thin that I could feel the grain on the back of the neck. At first I wondered if they forgot to spray it al all, but it turned out to just be an uber light clear coat.

For reference, comparing current pricing to the days of yore...along with the body binding this one also had a matching Belair Green headstock. It was on sale for $800 from Wild West Guitars. Free shipping and of course, no sales tax. They had three identical ASATs on sale. Ah, the good ol' days when the Everyman could afford nice things. Just for the record, the build, fit and finish on this bass was flawless, and for some folks the thin neck finish would have been a plus...different strokes.

Very common these days and makes for a more consistent instrument. A lot of skill still goes into sanding, neck fits, etc. It's not even close to ready off of the cnc.

Essentially QC. Errors made in builds that should not be made. G&L produces some excellent product. It's just not excellent as often as it should be based on it's cost. I'd rather refer you those those who've been the questionable beneficiaries of some of their major errors for more examples.

Haven't spent a ton of time , but will say the neck is flat , the action is low and it's 9#'s.

I might post more once I get to put it thru the paces. Not gonna adjust anything for a couple days.

gorgeous! I love that Old School Tobacco Sunburst Finish. Been thinking about picking up an L1K in that color to match my LB100

Ah. I thought a Tobacco Sunburst had a darker (brownish black) outer edge, that's what made me think say Cherryburst, although I actually meant to say Honeyburst. What do I know .... :wacky:

Regardless, it's still beautiful!

Hi G&L'ers. I am contemplating a pickup / pre amp project on my L2000 Trib'. Has anyone come across any multi coil (Wal like) pickup that would fit? I reached out to Turner... If so any additional suggestions on a filter based preamp? Luistand, ACG etc?
