Best B-string I've ever heard. Not at all farty for flabby like many are. My MM5 has a good B, but the G&L is better.
Overall I find the Stingray to be a bit more refined, and the G&L is raw power. Its not replacing my Stingray but its an awesome alternative. This will most definitely be my go to bass for outdoor gigs & the annual 4th of July parade!

Now I have to ask -- what kinds of contexts will you use it in? I bought a used sparkle yellow L2000 (the old finish, not the new gold flake like yours, so it's slightly more subtle) that I sometimes hold back on using, because it somehow doesn't exude "roots rock" or "jazz".

Although I bought it primarily for my wedding/function band, if I bond with it sufficiently it'll get used for everything. I'm turning into a bit of a peacock in my old age. It's a show, right? : D
Right now I've got mine strung up with flats and I've been copping old Bootsy riffs while my wife is learning drums. So you're not far off.
I also used it in a metal band and it worked well.
And yes, @David Jayne -- it is a show!
Nice! My silver sparkle L-2500 always gets the ladies' attention. This one will definitely hook the look
One more. Got it set up nice. Ditched the weird tone control setup and filed the nut a little, plays like butter and sounds like thunder.

How do you have a weird control setup with volume and tone?
The way they do it it doesn't work the way you'd expect. Unless the Vol is fully on, the Tone control does almost nothing. They put a resistor in there and wire the cap in an odd way. Not sure what they were going for.

This happens occasionally at the factory, I've gotten two SB-1s like that over the years. The tone knob only works normally with the volume up full.
It's been a few years but if I remember right, I just switched the yellow lead from the center lug to the right lug of the volume pot and it worked like it should without having to alter the tone pot wiring at all.
