I have a G&L story. I ordered a new SB2 last nov. got it 3 or 4 months later. The truss rod was not accessible. It was as if channel for the truss rod was routed to deep and there was a very bad rattle on the open D. Sent it back and asked for a new neck from the dealer. When i got it back the truss rod was not an issue but the D string rattle was still there, there was a small indent in the back of the neck finish (i suspect it as not a new neck), and there heel joint as cracked (there was no packing in the case?). Then I got a refund and returned the bass.
The bass played and sounded great which has me considering trying again but I am pretty nervous about it.
And a dealer has told me there has been a price hike (1500 to 2000?).

Nice..looks like that ash has a touch of flame in it....you lucky boy.
I'd like to see them ditch that fugly little SB and make an LB-100 PJ.

It sure is a lovely looking bass, I would have bought it anyway but it was the grain that sold it for me!

I'm getting a jb2 as a birthday present very soon, and thought it would be nice to have the headstock painted to match the body, and a custom waterside decal of our initials in the G&L font. Any suggestions of who does this work well, and font that g&L uses?

I believe Marty Bell does G&Ls sparkle finishes, not sure about the other colors or logo, but you could shoot him an email.

The G&L arrived from its cross country voyage with no problems. Haven't taken any photos of my own yet but it came from another TB member. If you search the classifieds for an L-1505 and see a trans blue with maple binding... That would be mine. The seller had taken some awesome pix, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do justice to it in comparison.
So far just jamming at home with it, need to raise the action some though.
Will see how it sits in the band mix tomorrow, but I've got a notion to string this up with flats. Anyone else running flat wound strings on a L1505 and what are your thought?
A gift from a great friend who happens to be a great drummer too. I got him a job about 17 years ago that had a really nice profit sharing plan, to thank me he let me pick between a new Carvin or G&L. We're from So Cal so he wanted it to be made there. This was an easy choice for me..
Ash body with the Blonde finish, maple neck and board. The tone sounds 2 part Stingray and 1 part P-Bass to me. It really sounds great onstage. When my friend first mentioned buying me a bass I politely agreed that would be great, but never really thought about it seriously. Then this spring (about 9 years later) he called and said time to place your order. A lot to be grateful for!

Nice looking bass, love the woodgrain. Pic makes it look white with a trans finish, but I re-read your post and saw its a blonde, must be the lighting.
Looks great either way. I love to see wood grain in instruments.

Rehearsal this morning, first time taking the G&L out. Wow. that MFD pickup packs a punch. I had expected that from everthing I had read, but it really sank in when I plugged in and we started on the first song. I left the amp set the way its usually set for my stingray and the sound was tremendous.
Playing at the house through the practice amp (a small ibanez 10" combo), the bass sounded nasally and the B-string was anemic. When I plugged it in to my MB800 through the Epifani cab at the church....wow. This is a smokin' bass. I love it. Will take me some time to fully adapt to the tone controls but its feeling good so far and the neck was comfortable. Had done several hour long practice sessions at the house during the week with it but it really settled in after I raised the saddles a little last night so I could dig in some more and played with the band this morning.
I think I even like its B-string better than the B on my Music Man.
I havent taken any good pix on my own yet yet but here's a crappy cell phone pic, and the seller had some awesome pix in his adv.

Sweet bass...is that an ebony board?
Also does it have a matching headstock?
Yes - ebony fretboard, quartersawn neck. Headstock has a gloss black cap however.
I had wanted to get one of the L1005's when they did that limited run last year, but drug my heels on that out of fiscal restraint. Then when G&L announced that they were not going to accept more orders there it prompted me to start prowling the TB classifieds, and found this. Its like new with all the case candy.
Yes, 1505. I guess my previous post was not that clear. In a way, when G&L decided they were not going to take any more orders for new L-1000/L-1005 basses; it sort of was a catalyst that made me decide to get off the fence and join the G&L club. Not really much near me for dealers. Used to be Bass Specialties in NW Phila, but they packed up shop a couple years ago. I run across used ones in shops from time to time in my travels but I just never took the bait.
