New Bass Day...Kiloton Tribute, got a really good deal on eBay from a very accommodating seller. Very nice to play, will give it a run out at a gig tomorrow and see how it goes!

Definitely agree with that! I just got a cherry burst "other brand" bass with a black guard and a dark rosewood fretboard. It looks fantastic.Def! Cherry burst with the black pickguard looks really great.
My M2500 is that color, but no pick guard.
Red or Ruby red metallic? My M2500 is that color, but no pick guard.

Does G&L make a P5 or PJ5?
I guess I look at G&L thinking all of their offerings will have that huge aggressive MFD thang. Is that not true of their P and J equipped basses? Do those sound more like everybody else's P and J basses?if I were looking for a 5-string P or P/J, I'd be looking hard at a Sire.
I never thought I'd be in that camp, until I bought one.

But none of these are 5-string. Except the JB-5, here's mine:The P-style LB-100 and J-style JB both have Alnico pickups with a more traditional voicing.
The P-style SB-1 and PJ SB-2 have MFD pickups. It's definitely from the same family as their MFD soapbars.

My Kiloton is just a 4, but I'll second everything you're saying. For me, the MFD-equipped Kiloton 5 does just about everything or more than 90% of everything. Can get the pbass thing in single coil mode with wide open tone or tone rolled back, can get the Stingray in parallel with tone up, can get front pickup j tone with the volume and tone back in the single-coil or parallel modes. It can be an enormous monster in series mode, but if you roll the volume and tone back, it's beautiful and thumpy. It's the most versatile bass I own and has the best neck I've ever played. Imo, ymmv.
Pic because why not.
