I have la bella 760fs and love them. I also tried some old TI flats that were not bad. La bella feels better and I think have the best balance in tone.
I know TI Jazz Flats have a great reputation. I've never tried them on any bass that has an MFD pickup, but I had them on another bass that has a Lace Alumibar on it and found them pretty underwhelming. I did have a set of LaBella DTFs on a fretless jazz I had. They were actually on there for many years and sounded great. Thanks for your input. I've been mainly a roundwound player for years and have never played flats on a bass with MFDs. Add to that the unique pickup placement on a Kiloton, and I'm venturing into a place I'm totally unfamiliar with. Plus, with the prices of flatwound bass strings these days, random string experimentation can add up fast.
I was underwhelmed with TI jazz flats on my MFD equipped bass (L-1000). IMO, MFDs beg for round wounds. This is coming from someone who played flats exclusively for 15 years on my main bass (jazz).
That being said, I currently have GHS precision flats on my Fallout Tribute bass (MFD equipped) and it sounds like a bulldozer, in a good way. Precision flats are very fundamental heavy which I think helps. Take it with a grain of salt because I think GHS precision flats sound good on anything. My favorite flat.

To those who have both a L2000/2500 and Kiloton:
I'm looking for feedback on which you play more and prefer and why. I am very familiar with the L2500 but have never played a Kiloton. I'm intrigued by the Kiloton and would love to try one. But, the lack of bass/treble tone controls does concern me if I'm honest.
So please just school me on the pros and cons of these two sweet instruments.

L2500 is definitely more versatile, but the Kiloton has some tones the L2500 cannot get. The Kiloton has a tone knob (treble roll off) and thanks to pickup placement it does not need a bass cut knob. Coil tap adds some versatility to the Kiloton.
I like having both. Kiloton wins for comfort (body shape) and simplicity. L2500 wins for versatility. Which is better just depends on what you want. If Kiloton tones fit your needs, then it is a great bass.
On the note of the Kilo being comfortable and not needing a bass cut knob, the L1500/L1505 did not sell nearly as well as the Kiloton. I recognize some of that is brand recognition and the timing of when they were discontinued. I also argue that the Kiloton fits the single MFD setup better than the L150X basses did.
I find it has enough. The Kiloton definitely has less low end than the L2500, but the L2500 needs a bass cut knob because it can get too much low (series mode on neck pickup anyone?). Said another way, I do not find myself missing the bass cut knob with the Kiloton. I also find series mode without bass cut is usable on the Kilo. On the L2500 I typically need a little bass cut in when switched to series.
I have a different playing situation than most players. I don't use an amp. I run through an Ampeg SCR-DI (a simple unit with 3-band EQ) into a sound system with subs. So I have both better highs and better lows available to me than with an amp. Because of that difference, I seldom comment on posts like yours. But I must say that my Kiloton has plenty of lows. While the parallel setting sounds bland to me, series has a bunch of low end growl. And I like the single coil setting as well. It still has good bottom end along with real bite, but of necessity, you lose a little volume. Strings make a difference, too. I've used a variety of nickel plated roundwounds over time with the same results. I get similar tones out of my L2500, and it is more versatile, which has already been said. Still, my Kiloton is my favorite. I'd play it eight days a week.
I think you're supposed to play a Hofner for that.
Still shows up as build to order on the G&L website and I recall seeing an Andromeda finished 2022 M2500 at Specialty Traders. I do not think they have ever done them as Fullerton Standard/Deluxe models. I do not think they will be common BTO dealer stock either. Probably order or buy used if you want one.
Kilotons are great. Such versatility out of a single pickup! I have an emerald green USA Kiloton and I have a used Tribute Irish Ale one on the way. Congrats. I love the satin black. Darth Vader's bass! Congrats.
I read that the M series has been discontinued, if you look at the pricing on the Rocket Music forum here, it shows that. I think they were only BTO. But you could try and contact a G&L dealer and check, G&L seems to flip flop so you never know.

Keep in mind that "coming soon" is a flexible term. For G&L, it could mean "by 2030".
