You bought Darth Vader's bass!!! Congrats. It's beautiful. I love the black on black! I have an L2500 in the satin black. First satin finish instrument I've ever had, and I'm surprised at how durable it is. Tell Darth I said "Hi" when you see him.

Looks great! This is my Kiloton. While I love the Blueburst, I think I like your black even better!
Bluebursts are nice. A used blueburst L-2500 is what got me started on the whole G&L obsession.
Pardon my ignorance! But what is the top of the line 4 string and 5 string bass G & L makes?
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but Custom Shop is top of the line, be it a 4- or 5-string.
Unknown to me. I can't even afford a new G&L Tribute and buy used exclusively. Sorry.
This is a real general ballpark answer just from recent memory:
Prettt sure you can find a nice new U.S. G&L starting somewhere between 1500/1750 and 2000/2250 USD depending on the model. Going custom just adds on $$ depending on your options. If you start adding everything, you can get past 2500/3000 USD pretty quick.
But check the G&L store "clearance basses" first.
Actually, if Greg from Rocket Music weighs in on this, he'd be the man with the definitive answers.
The Fullerton Deluxe and CLF Research instruments range from $1949 to $2209, depending on the model/string count. Made in USA, but no available options.
The Build To Order instruments start at $2099-$2249, depending on the model/string count. Made in USA, and options can take it up from there.
The Custom Shop adds roughly $1000 to the BTO prices, plus whatever options.
Those are all the minimum advertised prices that dealers are allowed to show. Discounting is permitted and pretty common (I suspect). It certainly is at my store. Hahaha.

I'm just curious about something. I have 2 Fender Jazz basses, and my G&L JB is much louder than either of them. Yes, all three are set up to spec. Do any of you know if G&L single coil alnico pups are overwound or something else that would explain this?
I have no explanation for what you are experiencing BUT , I can share this G&L Experience ......
I have Three G&L JB4 Basses. All three are the same except for the fretboard and neck finish. All three are set up Exactly the same ( by my own hands ), strings and all. All three sound different enough to tell them apart blindfolded. 2015 , 2017 , 2019 USA BTO models. Different as in tone and volume. I run everything on the Bass dimed wide open. ymmv

Is anyone else running a set of flatwounds on a Kiloton? If so, what are they and how do you like them?
I had Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats on the Tribute Kiloton I had before I bought the US made one. I really love Cobalt Flats with MFD pickups. I had them on my CS L-2500 as well.
I decided to stick with the stock stings on the new Kiloton because it seems like a waste to immediately replace them, but my next strings will once again be Cobalt flats.
Excellent to hear. I really like EB Cobalt flats as well. I have them on a Jazz Bass I have and also on a JB-2 that I'm selling. And I have a set on hand. Thanks!
I have cobalt flats on my single pickup Aria Pro II RSB-600 (same pickup position as Kiloton) and it's working very well
