probably, i'm still excited about this bass, the maple neck is kinda caramel colored and it has a subtle grain to it with black abalone fret markers

A quick answer would really help me out please.
An 80 something sb1. Sounds great. The pickup is fairly noisy but not awful. I've been wanting this thing for a while but they had it priced at a grand. Is $549 great? Okay? Moderate?

Never mind. It's red. I'll never be happy with it. It's in the Long Island Sam Ash if anyone's interested.
Understood. I had an '83 just like that but with more wear. I'm not a P guy... and I'm not a red bass guy. It didn't stay around long.
Early LB-100s had Kent Armstrong pickups with black covers, then they went to pickups with white covers. So it could be stock.
hmm, yeah i remember reading that a while ago, but i couldn't remember where or if that was when they were called the legacy bass
I thought it was the Legacy Bass that did.
My LB-100 is a transitional model - LB-100 decal but the body is designated Legacy - and it originally had white covers. Unfortunately, the white didn't really match the aged white pearloid pickguard, so I swapped the covers for a more traditional look.
I spotted this on Reverb in case anyone is interested in a new Wunkay. It's also got an alnico MFD.

in kind of a reflective mood now since it's actually raining and the dogs are all napping and low energy, i just noticed that not only is my 83 L2k the loudest bass i've had when plugged in, but it seems to be just as loud acoustically as my old gibson grabber, which was quite audible when played without an amp

1. Awhile back someone posted the name of the place that does finishes for G&L. I can't find it.
2. Am I correct that a six bolt #8 USA neck should fit any G&L USA body? Or are there differences?

You can't assume neck swaps will work between different USA G&Ls, unfortunately. The biggest issue is they made the necks slightly longer when they went from 3 to 6 neck screws, so it negatively affects intonation. There is also a good bit of variation in neck heel width and depth.
I have successfully swapped necks between USA basses and even Tribute basses, but you can't count on being able to do it with any two basses.
