Light was bright for that photo, however it's not very matte - the frost finish takes some of the brightness out of the metallic. Looks nice in normal light, not as frosty as some finishes would appear, but has good balance with the white pick guard. I like it, but then I am biased

Yep! I have an empress L2K. Weighs 7.5lbs. Always surprises me when I lift it up.
This past Saturday night I played on a bill with two other bands, and, I believe for the first time at any show I've played, G&L had a majority of the basses. I played my M-2500, and another bassist had a Tribute Kiloton, which sounded great through the house amp. I ran the M through an Earthquaker Devices Blumes overdrive pedal, and it sounded righteous. Here's the Kiloton:
I've been toying with the idea of getting one of those. Plays well with the M? Wonder how it does with the L and SB models…
I've always wondered how does a Kiloton compare to a Stingray sound wise. Obviously, no active EQ, but the series, parallel, single coil mode is probably pretty helpful. (I have a Stingray but no Kiloton).
Yes, it's worked nicely with the M and with my Fender J. I use it on fairly low settings. Things can get gnarly very quickly as you dial in the gain, at least for my tastes. In fact, on Saturday night I was afraid it was too much, but it sounded fantastic in the band mix IMO.
I just bought this in the TB Classifieds. It's on it's way, I'm really hyped to play it and hear how it sounds. It was a heck of a deal, and the seller was incredible to work with. Shout out to Fenwickian!
I agree, they call that Indian Rosewood. I'm going to apply some F One oil to it when I change the strings, I'm sure it'll look even better then. I do love rosewood fretboards.Amazing fretboard wood

Bagged this gal off the GC Used site in October. I'd been watching for months and jumped when the price was dramatically slashed. Finish has grown on me, and she elicits lots of positive reactions from audiences and fellow musicians. Appears to be quartersawn neck so between that and the finish I'm guessing custom build. I wonder if anyone out there might know the backstory.
If you want the spec sheet, you can order from G&L. Definitely a cool finish. Missed opportunity for whoever ordered it by not doing a matching headstock on it.
