G&L Club Part 7

after some research
apparently, my black 90s LB100 was dated march 25th, 1994 (my 20th birthday) on the neck, making it a really early post Legacy series LB100
it was so early that it did come with the black pickups
my new replacement maple neck is very very easy to play and it is a little more chunky in the back than the original neck and my 83 L2000 neck, whatever medium vintage color satin spray they used really works, the neck is crazy fast, when the strings settle down a little i'll be able get a better sense of it's tone compared to the previous neck, but it seems really punchy and almost piano like

Got this last week for a lil under 500$. Took it to band practice last night and was really happy with the sound. Guitarist's play thru orange and Mesa boogie stacks and we tune down to C standard. First time I've jammed on active bass and it really made a difference. Although it was low and loud as all get, it cut thru when it needed to. I'm happy

Nice score.

I gotta say, I'm curious to try an M. I've tried one in a store, but I mean, curious to own one and try it out in the real world. A Trib M-2500 might have to be in my future.

Gals and guys of G&L land!

I have been ecstatic since getting my ASAT bass with #7 (I like 'em thick!) and as we all do am gassing for more G&L.
Love my tonal properties of what I have and I have a sound I like.
But I want to add another punchy bass to really cut through like my ASAT, but a little different.
For reference I have a Fender Cabronita and a starcaster as other bases for different sounds, as I attempt to play everything from rock, blues, soul etc.

What I am interested in is either an L1500 or L1505, as I am considering adding a 5 to the Arsenal, as I hear and I would imagine the PUP placement being just away from the bridge a little more gives that different sweet spot.

Has anyone got any direct comparison knowledge, a sound bite, video they could share to help with this, or even written advice.
It would be much appreciated.

You can also try out the L2000. I have both: an Asat and L2000 bass and they sound and play very different. The asat has a very fat bass sound and the L2000 sounds more raw (if that is the right word in English). I love them both. On YouTube are different video's of G&L basses but my advice is to test and play the basses because in my experience they sound different, just 'normal' or great.

@Asat77 cheers bro.

Also been looking at that, potentially the L2500, knew electronics were the same, and so thought tonallybtheybwoild be closer.
Part of me also likes the rare factor, more L2's about, less ASAT's and prob less L15's especially here in the UK.
I cannot understand it, they are awesome basses G&Ls.
I had to get mine from across the water from a TBer no less!

Thats a beauty mate.

I got time on my hands, only just got the ASAT, and technically have to do the house extension first before the manager of funds releases my building GAS, although i would pull the trigger if the right one came along ;-)

I thought that the pickup on the L1500 was located at a position that corresponded to the neck pickup for the L2000. Is it located somewhere in between the two on the L2000?

The L1000 has the pickup in the neck pickup. The L1500 is in the bridge position. Not sure if it's at the exact same bridge location as the L2000. I know some really dig the L1500 but there's just not as many of them out in the wild so can't easily try them out.

Does it sound different than the L2000 with the bridge pickup solo'd? Is there anything else different?

My favorite color too. One of the local bassplayers has one but I haven't had a chance to check it out. We haven't had a gtg in quite some time. Hopefully, he still has it by the time we get together again.
