I just picked up this 2013 US G&L M-2000 in a TB Classifieds trade last week.

Whoa! Nice trans green finish.
I'm not sure, but I think maybe that trans green was one of the "original" (1980-881) trans colors. Am I right about that - going from memory.
You're right. I know for a fact that trans-green was on the list of available finishes, right from the start in 1980. I read it with my own eyes on the dealer list.
Jogs my memory about a '81 green ash/ebony slotter L-1000 on ebay that I stupidly passed on. It was in nice shape, could have had it for $650. The kicker was that it was autographed by John Entwistle. The bass was listed on ebay just before Entwistle croaked. Drat.
I hear ya. ...but I can remember when L1000's were $500 all day long and $650 was a stretch! ...at least I never got $650 for mine.
Oh man....I love the old body shape. This bass with the "eye gouge" headstock would be perfect!Yep, in 2002 $650 was near the top end of the price range for any L-1000, which was one reason I balked on it. Still, an '81 green ash/ebony was pretty alluring to me then, even at $650. The bold Entwistle autograph on the front, just below the arm contour, was icing on the cake. In retrospect, it was a mistake not to buy it. The cool factor of that bass was off the charts for a L-1000 fanboy like me, and one I would take to the grave.
Here's a '81 trans-green/maple that I wouldn't mind having.

Speaking,of shielding control cavity,on the bass. Both of my L2000's,I have no problem. Out of sentimental reasons,I bought an old Peavey T20,with single Super Ferrite pickup. It has a hum at my home, but not at another building? So I decided to buy some Conductive Copper Tape, from StewMac. This is my first attempt,to try. I had to order,a whole roll, just to get what I needed. So I have a roll of Conductive Copper Tape,if anyone is interested? I only had to use, about 3inches? I know this is a G&L thread, but here is a picture,of my attempt to shield the control cavity,of my T20.I would start with both pickup and control cavity's. On my L2K when in my old house it used to have radio pick up when not touching the strings. Most likely a in house wiring issue. After moving into where I am now there is no problem.
No, both mine got swapped as soon as I recieved them (Schallers are my preferred type). Are the strap buttons on G&L from a locking system?
I lived in South Riding for about 8 years ! ChantillyJohnson City. However, I'm in Herndon, VA.
