A while back I had a Fender Deluxe Active Precision in Sapphire Blue exclusive to Sweetwater only.It came with a Jazz neck(1.5" nut)and ash body with transparent blue finish.Beautiful instrument but it came from the factory with a bad trussrod and trying to talk to Fender about it was a joke.I got rid of the Precision and Moved up to a G+L Fullerton Deluxe JB.Im hoping it hangs in there for the rest of my years and gives me no problems.Somehow though I still find myself wanting anoanother Precision with Jazz neck of course.

I used a stack pot on my SB-2 to stack the two individual pickup volumes and then added a master volume so I could preset the relative volume of the pickups with the stacked pot and control the overall volume with the master. It has worked great.

I had a chat with Ben (the bass player) in the beer garden after the gig and complimented him on his ASAT. He bemoaned the death of G&L and told me his current backup bass is a kiloton tribute.

So no problem with the available space? Great news, thank you. As you can tell, I've no idea how much deeper or wider a stack is than a regular pot.
On the Tribute L-2000 I briefly I had, the quality of the machine heads looked quite low, unfortunately. For the price, I was expecting better, but they seemed no better than I'd expect on a Squier AffinityFor a short while, they also used Schaller long shafts. How long, dunno. I found examples from 2010 (30th anniversary models):
And yes, Ping is the lower quality clone of Schallers.
. They were all pulled partially out of the headstock, circa 2 to 3 mm. All of them.
The ones on my 2011 L2K Tribute are fine to be honest. I think they're the same tuners they put on Indonesian Classic Vibe Squiers. Sounds like your issue was the actual fitting on the headstock, not the tuners themselves. Maybe a shipping mishap? If I recall correctly, I used an Alpha stacked pot that I got on Amazon. It fit perfectly in my SB-2 (Tribute).

Planning t change the strings on my SB-2. Unsure if I want to go with tape or round wound. Looking for a thumpier sound. Suggestions?
I've got La bella black tapes on mine and I love it.
Rest my thumb on the neck joint sometimes and pluck for there to add thump to the thump. They feel great from day 1 and they last (and last). Because you're not looking for the bright roundwound stuff there's no need to ever change them (but if you do want to change them, they'll happily sit in a drawer for 12 months and still sound great when you realise you miss them so you put them back on).
I've tried the white gold ones too (currently got those on my kiloton), they are brighter. I did also go for the lighter gauge on those. Would like to try them in the heavier at some stage but, as with the black, they last forever so there is no real excuse to buy a different set until I get my next bass.
Hopefully not boring but with the hoopla about G&L happening,and I am using the right words. I am glad I have had the opportunity to owned different G&L basses down through the years. I am thankful I managed to still have my 2005 CLF L2000 black with the maple body binding. And the original G&L stamped molded case. I have three other bass guitars so the L2000 I plan on keeping now for sure! Take Care!

I regularly check used G&L on GC and Im surprised to see 30ish used instruments right now. Normally it's about double that. People are buying them up.
Generally speaking, people usually say that Flats are thumpier than rounds, and tapes are thumpier than flats. I'm currently loving on flats played finger-style.
A couple of hours ago, I was at the GC in Wilmington, DE, and I was surprised to see a beautiful M-2500 on the wall. Ruby Red Metallic, rosewood, matching painted headstock, and knobs with red tops. Very cool. I have a Ruby/rosewood M-2500 already, and it's amazing. Someone on here should snap this one up!
Got a new L2000 recently and a NOS JB a few years ago both rosewood necks, am I getting older or are the xl170 strings way higher tension than they used to be? Maybe this just seems this way, because I've only been playing my super low action maple neck 94 LB100 with TI jazz flats for the last few years, not sure. It almost seems like the string tension on the neck is really fighting with the truss rod.
A best I recall, TI strings are very low tension. Might that be why?
