You will not, i will buy a L1500 a soon as i can. The sound, the power and the punch its amazing in my L-2000 on any pickup so that one pickup on the sweet spot should be more than enough.

@audreycashin thay is a gorgeous bass but is an L1005 I thought they were talking about an L1505.....
Either way they are lovely. Never played a 5 banger but It will be as good if it better than my L1500 so you will have soooooooo much fun
I'm not worried as far as versatility is concerned as I already have a few other basses to choose from. My other 5-stringer is rich and subtle, great for solo work, but seriously lacks in the cut-through and punch department, hence the L1505. I think I saw mine on G&L's Facebook page and got a phone call from the distributor a few days ago so it shouldn't take much longer now. Can't wait!
I expect you'll like how it sounds. I had the privilege of owning a 1505, 2500, and 5500 at the same time. My impression was that the 1505 sounded a lot better than the 2500 in terms of presence and clarity on the low notes where it counts. Pickup location. The 1505 had nearly the power and huge organ-like sound of the monstrous 5500, very close but still had the MFD ingredient happening. Great bass, I miss it.

I read about all the mods to make it sound more like a 2k series but I'm not really interested right now. I considered different models of Fender/EBMM/G&L 5-stringers before making my choice, and the 2500 wasn't one of them.
Not sure what mods you have been reading about making it into an L2k, but that would never happen in any way due to the placement of the pick up and due to the fact that it is its own beast.
I would reference this thread here on the mod and there are great explanations about what will happen, and i can testify on its benefits personally which does not lose the character of the L1500 but adds a dimension to it.

Well I could be confused (that's actually quite probable given my aptitude with anything electric) but that's exactly how I interpret this (from p.2):
Technical details apart, this is about having a L-1500 sounding closer to a L-2000 isn't it?
@FantasticFour not quite right, the resistor Mod is to stop the treble boost when activating the active circuit, which can be harsh and almost like running fingernails down a blackboard.
To understand the L1500 Paul Gagon of G&L gave us this knowledge...

The Mod you want is this as per the knowledgeable fatherska's instructions...
1. Replacing the stock R7 resistor with a 22k resistor kills the treble boost when the preamp is on.
2. Replacing the stock capacitor on the treble-cut pot with a .1 uf capacitor enables more treble roll-off.
3. A .001 uf capacitor added to the bass-cut pot (center lug to back of pot) reduces the resonant frequency of the pickup, providing more low end all the time.
Parts cost: under $5.
Time required: about 1 hour.
Note point 3 the cap is ADDED not replaced.
Of course you can mix and match mods, but it does make the guitar infinitely more playable having played it for about a year before and now after the Mod.
I am not massively techy, but the reading is interesting

I bought this used from Ishibashi in Japan, a G&L made for the Japanese market. Ishibashi was great. They shipped it Tuesday and it got here Saturday. Probably faster than if it came from the US mainland, especially now during Christmas. It is a dark brown transparent finish that looks better in person. From the pics from Ishibashi I didn't care for the tort with the brown and was going to get a black pickguard made, but in person it looks great.
This thing plays better than any bass I've ever owned. Very low action. The frets are perfect. It balances great (important to me). Alder body, maple fingerboard. I haven't measured the nut width, but it is slightly wider than a J, probably about 1.6". USA G&L pickups. The electronics are different from the Indonesian SB-2, which has two vol but no tone. This one has stacked pots for the neck/bridge and a tone.
The pickups sound great, as expect for G&L. I like just P with no bridge, and it sounds punchy and loud, Backing off the vol a little gives a great versatile tone with good mids.
I have had two US G&L basses (both Leo era) and this one kicks both their butts. Seriously.

Note that the lack of a tone control is not specific to Indonesian SB-2s. On the contrary, the control is an add-on for the Japanese market.

WOW! I love it! The color with the maple board is gorgeous!
Stupid question perhaps but when trying to tighten the truss rod on a G&L, which way do you turn? I'm so used to doing it at the base of the neck.

Righty tighty, lefty loosey.
Look at the truss rod hole with the headstock at your chest and the bridge farthest from you and go from there.
(if you don't know) When you tighten the rod you will be straightening the neck counteracting the pull of the strings trying to turn your instrument into a banana.
