G&L Club Part 7

Yep, i hate it when that happens!

My guitarist actually found my L1500 for me, it's nice having good friends, even got his father in law to pick it up and drive it from Essex across to me in the West Country!

Bit of a gamble not playing it before, but was so worth it.
I know I like G&Ls, I know what neck I like and he had the serial number to check so I just pulled the trigger

I live in the West Country and found a beautiful USA L2500 in London, I had to have it despite the 300 mile round trip. Prior to that I had owned a US L1505 that I found in soundpad in Barnstaple, whilst looking for a SR5, that was my first G&L and I haven't looked back since.

There's a used L2500 on eBay at the moment going for £1250, a bit much I think unless they've suddenly started to appreciate in price.

@Stevehill i saw that one on eBay and thought that guy is having a laugh at that price, as you can get a brand new one for that! I nearly messaged him to tell him my thoughts to be helpful, but just left it, i suppose he'll find out the hard way!
I found my ASAT semi hollow in Cardiff whic was a complete stroke of luck and despite not enough funds in the bank etc and it essentially being completely unnecessary except for it was a bit of a Unicorn bass i knew it would not come up again. Probably slightly over the odds compared to US prices, but fair for UK prices and the seller is now a good mate.

You see G&L brings people together.....

Nice find! You don't see many used G&L's in this country, maybe that's his angle. Did you also see the 80's L1000? In the USA but quite tempting.

Yep, that could be his angle, but its a stoooopid one bearing in mind that being 'niche' in the UK,us G&L enthusiasts know the value of instruments.
When I got my solid body G&L ASAT from the sates not only was it way cheaper than that, but after import and postage it was still cheaper by about a third/quarter of the price.

When it comes to looking at basses i am always tempted!
Just modded my L1500 and so am concentrating on that at the moment, and have just got a new amp, so i have to curb GAS for a while....

Did the single coil mod on my l2500 today, very simple to follow the diagrams on bassesbyleo but thought I'd add some photos here to give it a bit of real world perspective.

Above is the old switch in situ and below is the new switch, prepared with links and earth wires, ready to have the pickup wires soldered on.

I'm so glad I did this as it sounds great and adds another tonal possibility to what is already an amazing bass. We have a new year gig tonight and can't wait to try it in a band situation.
G&L seem to have no stock of the on/on/on switch by the way, I got this one from eBay for about £7.00
