Got this tribby from GC online for under 400$ brand new. I had heard they were good quality but I am really impressed. Kills the mim p bass. Playing down tuned sabbathy rock this just fits the bill. Surprised more doomsters aren't playing these, oh well their loss.

I think your SB-2 deserves it well.

OK, so honest feedback time.... My Tribute L-2000 is my only bass (for now), I have moderate electrical skills (I've repaired a TV or two, spliced a hundred CAT5 cables and sound cables, etc.), and very rudimentary woodworking tools/skills. I would like to do the K-mod for sure and maybe even add a volume pot for each pickup. How difficult is it to do with limited skills and never having done any guitar repair. I guess I should find a schematic for the Kmod and take the cover off to see if it makes sense... Haha

I took the neck off and found that it was made in 1995. Surprised me that it was 22 years old.

Polished the rosewood fretboard and frets and restrung it with DR Black Beauties, set the relief and intonation, basic set up.

Amazing bass and an amazing deal!

Oh, forgot to mention that I had polished the body and fretboard before sending it down. But hey, now it's extra clean.

Just be careful to not overtighten the neck bolts when you put it back together.

Yes, the neck grain is cool. I haven't had a rosewood fretboard in over a decade, nice to have one again.

Haha yeaaah. You did a great job, I didnt polish the body much at all, just a quick wipe down at the end of the set up. I did use contact cleaner to get all the tricky spots.

Just be careful to not overtighten the neck bolts when you put it back together.

Yeah well sometimes you just have to see for yourself.

I might change the knobs.. might not, it was just a spur of the moment thing since I had those knobs with the pointers handy.

Haha not this time. I had a bunch of miscellaneous knobs from my effects pedal builds.
