G&L Club Part 7

Got the D'Addario Chromes. Wow, they are smooth feeling, something different for my fingers. Plugging in for a few minutes and they sounded good.

Maybe just my ears, but the tone I like best is Series -- top switch towards strings, and Active Boost (?) -- bottom switch toward strings. Treble turned mostly down, and Bass mostly up.

The great Ed Friedland on his Facebook said you'd be in deep doo doo to be using the Active Boost on with the L-1500. And he said the Passive tone is great. Nevertheless, I believe I'm liking the Active Boost mode.

Thx, Joe
I recently put Chromes on my L-2500 as well, in part due to @twinjet's input. I just got the bass back from the luthier about a week or so ago, but so far I think those strings gave me exactly what I wanted out of them.

Series/Active definitely gives you some beefy tone, too!

Neck-series-passive... -15/+0 dB treble/bass... Fills the band out perfectly!

Agreed on the neck/series/passive, and I also really like neck/passive/active. Those are my two preferred settings, then I adjust bass and treble as needed. Like I said in my previous post, series/active *is* a pretty beefy tone, especially with the bass more than halfway up. It can be a bit much so I don't use that often, but there certainly are times I could see that being just what's needed.

I'm going to have to give 100% bass and 0% treble to see what that sounds like. I rarely run bass or treble at 100% on my L-2500.

Wanted to show off my new G&L L-2000. Photo is from the sale page. Swamp Ash body with a Mango wood top and a honeyburst finish. Loving this thing so far!

Good decision! I had been casually looking for an L-2500 for a long time also but I was really picky about the finish I wanted any one of a few specific bursts so I watched a lot come up for sale that I passed on. But once I saw mine pop up in the For Sale forum I contacted the seller right away because it was too pretty to miss out on (cherryburst, matching headstock, maple fingerboard with no blocks blocks or markers).

But yours ... wow!

I'd love to see yours, dave64o.

John

Can we see it?!

Sure, I'd be happy to brag a little! :D

Here's the post in this thread where I "officially" joined the club and talked more about mine: G&L Club Part 7

Here's the pic I included in that post, but I can post a link to a gallery of more pics when I get home from work tonight:

Really like this one. The matching headstock and non marked fretboard are really cool.
