Musicgoround St. Louis. Great folks I've done a lot of business with over the years.

Was looking for a 4 string fretted to trade for my 5 string MTD Kingston Heir. This L1500 felt better IMO than the MM Caprice.

I use my L-1500 in church, and I use Dunlop Lo Riders Nickel Mediums. They sound pretty good.

I have Ken Smith Bass Burners on my L-2000. I love them. I've used a few different ones and the Ken Smith's are the best strings I've ever used for the price.

I'm happy with ernie ball slinkies. They have a nice mellow, bright but not annoyingly bright sound. Medium tension and the can last for a couple months if I keep them clean.

Flats sound nice on a 1500, too.

Swapped the EB cobalt rounds for Labella white tapes on my L2500.

FWIW, I've used Rotosound Swing Bass 66 on other basses for the last few years. Would that work out on the G&L L-1500?

If you like an aggressive tone, absolutely. You said light rock, I might be inclined to recommend D'Addario Chromes to really fill out the sound of the band.

Roger that. I'll keep it in mind. I play again on 3/19, and it'll be interesting to hear how it works out in the mix, including the congregation.

I'm sure it would but would be bright. I've had great results on my 1500 with GHS Pressurewound strings - a tad mellower than rounds but very clear in the mix.

Got the D'Addario Chromes. Wow, they are smooth feeling, something different for my fingers. Plugging in for a few minutes and they sounded good.

Maybe just my ears, but the tone I like best is Series -- top switch towards strings, and Active Boost (?) -- bottom switch toward strings. Treble turned mostly down, and Bass mostly up.

The great Ed Friedland on his Facebook said you'd be in deep doo doo to be using the Active Boost on with the L-1500. And he said the Passive tone is great. Nevertheless, I believe I'm liking the Active Boost mode.

Sounds like you favor the neck pickup.
