Nice looking bass there, the Blackburst goes well with the maple board. I see what you mean about how the grain is subdued. I guess the Blackburst finish varies a bit. Mine has a lot of grain showing through, but it was a Ltd edition model before G&L offered Blackburst as a finish option.

currently undertaking a build and these two pics have just answered the "what colour will it be" question.
If it were solid it would be G&Ls bel air - love that colour!

IMO, the L-2500 body shape that came with the 4+1 headstock was nicer, too. The current body is squished in the middle and doesn't look right to me.

I use my David Eden 550 with eden 210xst cab and 212 cab. They sound wonderful and just about anything else i run thru it.

I don't gig right now, so my humble contribution might not be good for much, but I use an Audiokinesis Hathor 1203 with either an Ashdown CTM-15 (my "dune buggy" rig) or a Tecamp Puma 500 (my "Mercedes" rig). If you don't know it, the Hathor has a pluggable port, a switch for high cut, and a switch for accentuated upper mids. So that setup covers a LOT of ground (and gets plenty loud) in a rig compact enough to be carry-on luggage.

I use a GK MB210-II combo amplifier.

Sounds great, does everything I need it to. It features a 4-band EQ and only 39 lbs to carry. 350 watts. Great amp for only $350. I came from a 115 lb amp/cab that was 200W, so the GK blows that outta the water. One of my best-ever buys, just before my L-2000...

I use a Fender Rumble 500 combo and a Rumble 2x10 cab. I can get that old school early 70s sound I really like.
