overall they were made to look good nekid, but of course the rare fugly could benefit.

So I wasn't sure if it was more appropriate to ask this question here, or make a separate thread about it but I was wondering what you guys thought about whether owning an Lb-100 and an Sb-2t would be overkill from a practical/sonic perspective. So I own an Sb-2 with factory tone control that I love dearly and was actually picking it up from my local tech who also happens to be a g&l dealer. Long story short, I saw a brand new empress lb-100 that played like butter and weighed in the 6 pound range! It was awesome! Anyways, i know the basic differences in these two models and I also know i can get a more vintage tone out of mine by turning the volume down. Do you guys see any practical/utilitatrian reason to justify getting the lb?

Haven't played either so can't compare. But think this is the wrong forum to ask if there is a reason or justification for getting another bass...
Just the weight and playability are justification enough. Plus always good to have a backup...
SB-2: growliest rounds you can find
LB-100: thumpiest flats you can find
I have even less differentiation in my collection. I have an SB-1 with flats and am putting together an order for an SB-2.

Happily trending in my own peculiar direction.
I'd love a Kiloton with a SB P P'up added. That would get me gassing.
My SB-2 kills my Fender AVRI '62 P every day (both with Chrome flatwounds).
I imagine it would also [do well against - edit] a LB-100.
If I had to get another G&L, it would be a Kiloton.

Anyway, rather than poleaxe, I think there would be a nice difference tonally between the LB-100 and an SB-2.
BTW, G&L's new option of Block Inlays is off-the-chain. I always ordered "no-dots" but no more!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I guess that was the essence of my question. Whether there was enough tonal differences to justify adding the bass in question to my arsenal(which includes an l2k lol)
As someone with 2 L-2000s, an LB-100 and having had SB-2s (both versions), I'd say get the LB-100. It will be different enough. 
need help near maryland with wiring in an L-2000 when i put series parallel switch in series mode the neck pickup stops working.

IIRC, at some point in the last year or two they changed the pickup placement on the LB-100.
It was moved to the standard "P" position, compared to the SB-1/2 position it had, which is about 3/8" closer to the bridge.

I put a linear tone pot on my SB-2 and enjoy having *both* the bridge pickup to blend (stacked V/V) and the tone control. I've got flats on, so more control over the warmer aspects of the instrument suits me. YMMV
