Hey all. Quick question. I have a Kiloton and love it. But I'm getting a lot of hum from the pickup. Most noticeable in series mode. It goes away if I ground a knob with my hand. Is this normal or something I need to get checked out? I thought I'd get a hum in single coil but shouldn't in series or parallel.

I'm thinking about selling my new M2500. Maybe it's just because I'm a creature of habnit but I prefer my L2500's. I'm actually thinking about trying something completely different but I might be interested in trading it for the right L2500. If anybody here is interested hit me up.
What do you like more about the L vs the M series?
Did the M series just added an 18v pre instead of 9v and a mid boost/cut?
I remember when you posted that bass a few months ago. I love the white contrasted with the markerless ebony neck!
The pickup/preamp are completely different. 18v, boost/cut on all bands, pan knob instead of selector switch. The pickups are a variation on the MFD design, built to give a flatter, less colored tone.

Yes, there's a 4 string version, and no, it doesn't have series/parallel or the passive/active/top boost switch. Controls are volume, pan, 3-band cut/boost EQ.
I'm not the person getting rid of their M2500. The M series hasn't really interested me, because it seems to be a hard lean towards the sort of modern active bass paradigm that I'm not really interested in. I love the L-2000 for it's unique character.
I'm not sure. They do sound similar that's for sure but I know when I plug my L2500 in I'm never not satisfied and I can't say the same with the M2500. I'm always fiddling with it to get it to sound like the L, which is strange because my favorite setting on the L is both pickups, series and active which is basically the default setting on the M. The B string sounds way better and more even on the M. Not sure why, just the particulars of the individual instrument I guess. Maybe the ebony board. And the look is killer, in fact the perfect situation would be if I had the exact same bass just an L instead of an M. The only thing I really don't like about it is the volume knob is in a place where I'm always hitting it when I'm using a pick and turning the bass up or down. No biggie, just a slight annoyance.

I really like my M, but I love my Ls.
I find the knob placement a little annoying, too, though it's because the treble knob on the M is right where the volume knob is on the L, and I've grabbed the treble a few times when intending to adjust the volume... just a motor memory thing.

I have an SB-2 Tribby neck on my L2K Trib.
Should work for you too on the M.
I think it's either that, or find something else. The M-2000 sounds fantastic, but I have to kind of wrestle with it.

I almost sold my L2K Trib as I hated the 1 3/4" maple neck. Found the rosewood SB neck on the G&L store and fitted it up. Much better now for me
The width wouldn't be a problem on it's own, but the (kind of) flat radius and the back shape add up to some discomfort.
My Tribute SB-2 (S.No. 0305xxxx so made in Korea IIRC) has a 4 bolt neck so wouldn't fit on a 6 bolt L-2000 Tribute.
The later SB-2 Tributes must be 6 bolt necks are they?
