Could be wrong though. And you never know with G&L.

Thanks for posting the link. My buddy was wanting the buckeye burl ASAT Special from NAMM. He ordered it from that same dealer earlier today. After I sent him the link that I found from this one.
What kind of settings on the bass itself have you guys found to be best with your l2000s? Of course amp settings matter too, but im new to these and theres a lot of options between 3 switches and 3 knobs.
I've done a K-mod on mine to give me the inner coils on the neck and bridge pickups when the new 3-way pickup switch is in the middle position. My favourite setting is both pickups, inner coils, passive, volume up, bass at about 90% and treble at about 60%. Great all-round tone. Also use neck pickup, series, passive, volume at 80%, bass and treble both at about 50% for a faux P-bass thing.
Nice, I'll try that out and see how it sounds. I have a bit of an aggressive plucking attack, it's just how I like to play, although I lighten it up when I need to, but I'm getting quite a bit of noise out of it when I do pluck hard. Guessing bc there is so much output coming from these pickups so I have to figure out how to reel all that noise back in.
I always wondered about someone like Geddy Lee because he also has a very aggressive attack, but he doesnt get a lot of extra noise out of his basses. They're pretty clean sounding even when he is nailing the strings.
So I have had my White LB-100 Epmress for 6 months and loving it. I am absolutely in love with this bass. Everything about it just falls into place for me. The play-ability, the tone, the weight, good slapping bass, good finger style. So I'm loving it so much I have another on its way a blue Empress L1500 both basses came from TB waiting on the Blue to arrive (shipped today).

I did the opposite K-mod: outer coils. My favorite setting is TI flats, single-coil outers, passive, wide open. Everything else happens at my amp.
The MFD pickups are interesting in that they change character quite a bit as you ease the onboard volume back a bit. I was used to playing most of my passive basses with the volume cranked, but don't do that with the MFD-equipped basses. I should have mentioned above that, like a lot of the L-series players here, I rarely play the bass in active mode. Sometimes I throw that switch to get a bit of a boost for a solo moment, but otherwise it's passive all the way.
So it was definitely that active/passive switch that was making all that racket. Switched it to passive and it sounds much better. Just got the thing so Im still learning it. Also toned back some of the knobs. Im used to my old active jazz bass where I had to have everything cranked to get the sound I was looking for out of it. Totally different beast.
