It's 8.6 LBS.... about 5 oz heavier .... and you can feel the difference. But the action on the blue one is better for aggressive pick playing.

Also called "caribbean rosewood", though not a true rosewood.
I believe Rickenbacker has been using it for a number of years now.
Modulus used it for fingerboards for many years, as well. I think also some of the tops were Chechen.

I do remember now seeing it quite a bit on their Genesis basses.
My alder weighs around 10.5lbs. I think. I can’t really tell the difference because I play heavy basses. My Warwick Streamer $$5 is swamp ash, so it weighs like 12 pounds or something. Lol
still trying to get more info on the L1000 with the status neck at the Memphis GC, those folks don't answer emails or return phone calls, i'm gonna play it as if it's a parts bass and inform them that $799 seems high
my BABP L-1000 is super lightweight and well balanced. Very comfortable to play.
Ideally, I'd like to get one with the exact same neck profile as my 83L2000, which has the thin rosewood and it is 1 5/8 with a flatter profile, but not super flat.

G&L has redone their web site. Looks like the L-1500, L-1505, & M-2500 have been discontinued.

I also noticed those basses are missing. When the Kiloton four and five were introduced, I figured the L-1500 and L-1505 would soon disappear, but I would be very surprised if we’ve seen the last of the M-2500.
