So was yours done by Marty Bell for G&L or did you have him do the work directly for you? I assumed you bought it that way from G&L, but don't think I ever asked and I don't remember you mentioning that, at least not in a thread I remember seeing.

I asked because weight is always a worry with five strings, and G&Ls are no exception.
My L-1505 is also somewhere around 10 lbs and I consider myself lucky, especially as it's ash.

Im sure it's smooth as glass, but man that thing looks like it's got such deep texture that it would hurt to play...

mine is 8.6, the one on the way is 8.4 NOT BAD for a 5er! Unfortunately now I can't buy an other basses because they are ALL too heavy!

Yeah, the clear blue, spalted maple lefty I posted a couple times this month. Block in-lays on a vintage satin maple neck. 1-ply black pick guard.
...But a picture I saw from NAMM gave me an idea of maybe replacing the pick guard with an old vinyl record cut to shape. It would have to be a worthy record, of course, but then it would be a shame to destroy it

Ahhhhhh, so YOU'RE the guy who bought that one, I didn't realize that. I remember when that for sale ad got posted and I even commented in that thread. I was kinda torn because I had just put a deposit down on my L-2500, which coincidentally also has a matching headstock, markerless fretboard, and the K-mod switching. But, as much as I love, seriously love, that silver finish, I'm all about bursts and mine is a cherry burst so I have zero regrets sticking with my original plan.
Actually, it's no secret that I love that Dolphin, also. I miss my old Warwick (had a FNA Jazzman 5).

Will shortly be part of this club again. I just put on deposit on an almost mint 2017 Jbass V.
It is fiesta red and it has a tortoise guard, a rosewood board, and an empress body.
It's super light and the bass feels great. I should pick it up in a week or two.

I've seen a few examples didn't do anything for me, but maybe that picture from NAMM would make me change my mind, you never know! Do share the pics if you get it done!
I wouldn't change anything about the bass for a good long while, as I want to appreciate it for what it is for now. I also worry that a funky pick guard with the spalted maple would be just too much.
