G&L Club Part 7

Yup. I really did like my other LB-100, but I was so burnt out from what I went through to get it that I couldn't enjoy it.
...and as the new owner, I understand your feelings and appreciate the opportunity to give her a new home! She is an awesome bass. Dig the Old School Tobacco Burst a lot.

Now, that CAR--wow!!! Can't wait for pics.

I had that one on my Watching List, but I went for a SB-2... at a stupid price. :)

What was the stupid price? I mean I'm not going to give it away but considering I bought it new last month, I'm thinking probably $825 shipped. I paid $1425 for it and it has the quartersawn neck which wasn't reflected in the price (it wasn't on the build sheet but I got one).

I'd love to see a pic of that bass.

Maybe not so stupid... it could have been less: $499, but it's with a 3 bolt neck... not a 1 month baby!
There is a SB-2 on ebay at £832.99 (in Ruby Red, USA, new, but from the pictures that are not of the actual instrument, no matching HS, and the neck is not quartersawn) .

Plenty of pics of that CAR LB-100 on ebay item 151274617476. They offered a 5% discount over the weekend, and they didn't mention it too, but the neck is quartersawn (see maple with the wooden lines on pictures 11 and 12).

Oh really? I bought too late then to get the 5% discount. Yes, I did notice that the neck looked like it could possibly be quartersawn. We shall see. I got the tracking for it today and it's a one day trip. It hasn't shown as being picked up yet, but if it did get picked up today I'll have it tomorrow.

I just can't decide if she's a keep if I should stick with the mint guard or I was thinking of tort.

Oh! sorry... more than compensated with the (hopefully) quartersawn neck.

It's a gorgeous bass like it is, I would keep the mint PG, it contrasts well with the CAR body and the RW neck. Tort fits better with Fiesta/Fullerton Red (à la Pino Paladino).

Yeah I was looking around and they have a couple fiesta red/tort LB's on their facebook page. I'm probably going to have to get it shielded, so that money is better spent on that than a pickguard. The wiring in my apartment is lousy and the LB-100 that I had and the SB-2 I am going to be selling both had to be shielded. Oddly enough, I had a Tribute JB-2 for about 5 minutes (twisted neck) and it was completely quiet and free of the buzz that occurs if your hands aren't on the strings.

Hey All,

So I am hoping to order an LB-100 in the forseeable future and am thinking about colors. One option is redburst which looks really awesome in the mock-up on the AGB generator.

Does anyone have a redburst with a pickguard? Or does anyone have a picture of a real one? (SB or LB or JB)?

My concern is that sometimes the redbursts I see have too much red and not enough black. Is this just luck of the draw or can I request a "mild" burst?

Thanks!

Here's a redburst that Rocket Music took a picture of. G&L seems to be fairly consistent with their bursts so this is what you'd most likely get. I was told that you can ASK, but the chances of you actually getting a mild burst if you ask for one are slim.

Thanks! The one from Rocket is perfect. I saw that SB-2 but it didn't even look like a redburst to me.

I just don't like ones that look like this:

Well lighting is everything. The picture of the SB-2 is a little dark so the black is hard to see. The one above looks like it was taken with an overhead light in an otherwise dark environment so the black will be more pronounced.

I used to have a Redburst JB2. I loved the finish on it.
