They're unfinished (just a sealant), there's no nut, and the frets aren't dressed.
Agree! Now if it does bother you, I could always sell my Duck to make room.

Sorry, not G&L related, just responding to a query above.
I bought an Allparts Jazz Bass maple neck with pearl blocks and white binding to fit on a Fender AVRI '62 jazz alder body with CS60's PUs. The fit in the pocket was absolutely perfect. Low action, jumbo frets, stringed with d'Addario half rounds. This neck and the fretboard are glossy all the way and it's significantly chunkier than the original '62 RW neck (that I now have on another Fender Jazz), say 5mm (3/16") thicker at the 5th fret. Width at nut is 1.5", of course. Fender licensed.

Assumedly pieces from batches received from Indonesia that did not pass the QC test (at the Fullerton plant?) and were not finished. But according to someone in a post above who bought 3 pieces, he got 1 without any defect, and 2 that were very close to that, with minor and acceptable imperfections. They don't have a G&L logo (that is not available anyway), just a removable sticker at the back.

A quick color question. I am jonesing for a red bass and I love G&L (thinking of an LB-100 or an L-1000). I love Fender's "Candy Cola" color. How do G&L metallic reds compare to Fenders?
My perception is this (lightest to darkest): Fender CAR, G&L CAR, Fender Candy Cola, G&L Ruby Red. The only one I haven't seen is the Ruby Red.
Is G&L's CAR closer to Fender's CAR or to Candy Cola? And is Ruby Red way darker than Candy Cola?
If anyone has compared these in person, I'd love to hear their opinion.

CAR is the same and candy cola is similar to ruby red. The difference is the quality of the paint. The G&L paint is going to shimmer a lot more and have a much more pronounced metallic look.
Thanks all. I've seen pics. Ruby looks much more maroonish. I know it's hard to get a good idea of the true color on these metallics. I was hoping someone had personal first hand knowledge.
Take a look around G&l's Facebook page. Their bench pictures are fairly accurate I'd say. I've had two basses get shown on their page, an Emerald Green Metallic and Old School Tobacco Sunburst and they were very accurate to what I got.

I'm still waiting for them to make a quick release version of the bridge. I like to swap strings back and forth and hate having to completely unwind the strings to get them through the bridge and screw up the silk.
Well I got the LB-100 in and it's going back. The imperfection in the fretboard is actually a hole in the wood. It's about the size of the head of pin. I honestly don't know how QC let that one out considering the rest of the board has almost no open pores. The edges of the hole are a little jagged as well. Not something I personally think I can live with.
Also the E tuner head is a little loose so it rattles when you play the open E. I tightened it to make sure and it still rattles. There is a very slight amount of play in the head as well which tells me the whole thing is loose. So I'm packing her back up. That's a shame. It plays great and sounds fantastic. Definitely what I'm looking for vs. the SB-2. That classic P tone.
So it will go back and I guess I'll get another somewhere else. Music Store Live has one in the same color except it has a vintage tint gloss neck. I'm not a huge fan of gloss, but I might get over it. Rocket Music has one, but I'm hesitant to buy at the moment because I just canceled a build on him for a fretless SB-1 (that came in the day after I canceled, go figure). I need at least a fretted and the SB-2 isn't totally working for me, so I couldn't afford to replace it and keep the custom order. I have to have surgery and that kind of screwed up my plans financially.
There's a TB'er selling one in a finish/headstock color that I really don't dig. I see he has a few other LB's so I'm seeing if he might part with one of those instead.

I'm sorry for you. A huge disappointment. The shame is that the seller ought to have all this explicitly mentioned in the ad with at least a close-up of the hole.
Have you seen those two ones with the Detroit car colors ? They are at a bargain currently. If you like these colors and the black PG... and some sick of ebay.
