G&L Club Part 7

Had great success with my Tribute LB-100 this past weekend using copper tape. First try at shielding. I was also in a hurry so it is messy but the bass is super quiet now. Next up for surgery is my new Tribute JB. Both of these had the black paint in the cavities but it seems to be worthless as they were both noisy when not touching the strings or other metal parts.

Another question...i was just over on the GL website,and there's no USA version of the Kiloton.
Was it ever a US made model?
Or only available as a Tribute series?
Edit-when i read the info for the tribute series Kiloton,it indicates there was a US version. But I don't see it offered on the website currently.

There is...it's under Option Order basses.

Yes, it is but I ended up removing it since it placed my thumb in an awkward position way above the strings. I'm gonna look around for a wooden ramp I've seen some Stingray players use and see if that will work on the Kiloton.

The kiloton body has less mass (and hopefully less weight,too) it looks like.

Yes, the K is slightly smaller and in my case, is a pound lighter than my LB. Also, the Kiloton has the more vintage radius which I really like, compared to my JB which has the 12" more modern radius.

In the same boat. Ordered from the custom shop in September. Still waiting and checking the G&L Instagram pages daily.

At the six month date I'll email the dealer and ask them to get an update for me. I don't think that's unreasonable.

Yeah, checking with your dealer is the way to go. Typically, a run of the mill USA model is made to order in about 6-8 weeks, though G&L officially quotes 10 weeks. I don't have enough experience with the Custom Shop yet to say how long that takes, but 6 months is probably about right.

I generally try not to bombard G&L with status update requests. But once those timeframes have expired, I'm happy to hit them up.

All that sounds good to me!
I've been looking at various online sales listings of the kiloton,some are 9.2 pounds (ash body) to a svelte 8.2 one in okoume.
