G&L Club Part 7

well, i dropped my L2K tribby off today for fret level and crown. it could take a couple of weeks, but I'm in no rush.

Once i get it it back, I'm going to gut the electronics, not the MFD's mind you, and install my spector clone preamp by @BaZZZZZ.

I'm going to change the switches to do north/humbucker/south for each, then the last switch to be preamp bypass.

I'll report back once I actually start it all...;)

So, I picked it up today and it plays almost effortlessly. Fret level and crown and some nut filing and it honestly plays like a much more expensive bass. It now plays as well as my spector euro lx and my ric. Not cheap (but reasonable), but well worth the cost (to me anyways). I really like this bass. For me, it is the perfect blend of traditional and modern.

I'm stoked to do the electronics change, but have family in town for the holiday so it may need to wait until next weekend.

I hope everyone is having a happy and safe memorial day weekend!

What color is your El Toro body?

Uncolored. Though it is kind of yellowy. Currently has the SB2 neck that is wearing the other L1K fretless neck.

Pickups with the white covers are on the G&L store, but out of stock. Pickup covers only are available for guitar pickups on their website as well. Point being... best bet is to contact G&L and see if they can help you out.

Yeah, was looking at that. G&L says the MFDs are wax-potted into their covers and there's a distinct possibility of damage trying to get the cover off—even with heat to soften the wax.

Speaking of fretless and performing the OMG Miracle for ones bandmates. New addition here at the Sonoran Desert Crematory. December 1980 L1K fretless. Very little playwear, a stellar-carved neck, 8 1/2 lbs. & the OHSC looks like new. She was already on the G&L Registry as the oldest fretless listed. This ones switch goes to OMFG.
