I own this beauty. The M 2500 is a fantastic bass as is the L 2500. I love the shape of the necks and the tight string spacing. This one sounds heavenly....come to think of it they all sound heavenly.

I routinely "rediscover" my M2500. These really are terrific basses—every bit as interesting as the L's IMO—and I should give mine more time out than it gets. I mostly use it once a year when I play in the pit band for the high school musical at my daughter's school. I find that the pickup/preamp pairing in the M's is near-perfect and great for voicing changes on the fly. A quite sophisticated instrument which still retains that MFD flavour.
BTW, this September my daughter will become the new bassist for the middle school band
and I imagine in a few years she'll replace me in the high school pit band—if she's not on stage. Sigh... Kara's small for her age, but she's just gotten an Ibanez Mikro that, with a 28.5" scale length, is just her size and a surprisingly nice instrument.
This is my favorite of all. If I ever make it to NJ I am going to steal it. I'll wear armor that is bullet- and ninja-star-proof, and I will steal it.

The El Toros are awesome basses!!! I have an '84. It is significantly different from my old L series basses- and anything I else I've played, for that matter. It's a very powerful machine.
Perhaps nearly as good as a certain Jack Read bass!!
Agreed. Out does my 76 P and even my SB-2 unbelievably. Those are great sounding basses as is. I even have a MIJ Jazz Bass with active EMG's and it smokes that. I haven't rehearsed with it yet but at home passive, both pickups and tone wide open withbass boost on is to die for. Is that what is referred to as th OMG switch?
Is it really so different from the L's? How so? I have played them but don't have one. I was thinking since the El Toro there is no need. Wrong?
It is very different from the Ls! In every setting (neck, both, bridge, OMG or series for the Toro). If you get the chance try them side by side. They definitely sound like cousins, maybe siblings, but certainly not twins.
Btw, the "bass boost" switch on the El Toro puts both pickups in series to, effectively, make a giant humbucker. It sounds better than I would have expected (having wired various basses this way in the past). This setting gives a big bump in the lows and low mids, along with a volume boost.
One of the (many) things I like about the El Toro is that the neck pickup does a pretty darn good P bass imitation- better than the neck pickup on my J, my L2k, SB-2, or even my Caprice (which has a split coil in the neck position!).
Yes on the Bull but dime the volume down a bit in an SB-1 and it's not a Pimitation.
The neck MFD in an SB-2 sounds slightly different than the same one in an SB-1 as with two pickups in a circuit there is always a different load even with one pickup all the way down. Slightly dimmed my SB1 sounds eerily close to my '62P.
G&L Summer NAMM looks fun. Fallout bass (think it is a short scale) and a Double P from CLF Research.

Yep. Just saw it on facebook. Definitely not MFDs. Appears to be VVT with a series parallel switch for preamp on that one.
