Well you can get the 6 or 8 neck on an SB1 if you order new.
I'm not sure if the Geezers will fit. I read that G&L said other pickups would be a tight fit so you might run into a problem.

Definitely something that would have to be more thoroughly investigated. I had heard somewhere that the splits would fit but I'm not certain.

That said if for whatever obscure reason someone has an SB2 split, from Mia or a trashed tribute. Talk to me.
Hmmm....I stuffed a G&L MFD for an SB-1 into a Squier Precision without any modification. I don't know if this answers your question or not.
I think the issue is that the SB pickup is a little smaller, so you'd be able to put it into another bass with a regular P pickup, but if you tried to put a regular P into an SB, the pickup route in the body and on the pickguard would be a little too small.

Looks like it could very well be Quartersawn. Look at the end of the neck in the pocket. If it is vertical you have it!
Have you verified that it's the pickup? I don't know what year your SB2 is, but many older G&Ls have springs under the pickups. They can make the pickups sound badly microphonic. All you have to do is stuff foam into each spring - noise gone!
My SB2 is a 97. Sponge is the most recent fix I have tried and have yet to test it it high gain/loud volume. Hopefully it isn't the pickup.
1997 is a great year and right in the spring era. Hopefully it'll be fixed.
I'm basically in love with it. Black on black with a rosewood board. Strung with TI flats .136-.65 in C standard. Nut was broken when I got it so I had the guys at Killer Vintage cut me a new one. They do amazing work for some of the biggest names in music. A lot of the staff also make up one killer Floyd tribute band, El Monstero.
Heads up guys. I ordered a fretless SB-1 from Rocket Music and I had to back out of the deal, so it's still available. The best part for the buyer is, I forfeited my deposit, so if you buy it, Greg will deduct the deposit that I already paid. It will be around $1200.

How has everyone's fret level quality been with the PLEK'd instruments? I have to have my LB-100 looked at on Monday. I was going to take it in to get shielded anyway but while it's there I'm going to have him look at a few of the upper frets. The 20th & 21st frets, mostly on the A & D have an odd "bzzzzeeeoowwwrrring" overtone/buzz when the note is fretted, even lightly and the fret almost feels like it's "bottoming out" on the fret before the one that I'm pressing down. When you actually pluck the notes there is no buzz, only when your initially press down and it's not the same sort of clank that you would normally get while pressing down. So I'm suspecting there is a high fret or two on the 18th or 19th fret and it's the buzzing behind the fret that's causing the problem. I have a metal string height ruler that I used as a straight edge to span 3 fets and it does seem like it rocks ever so slightly on the 18th or 19th fret and also the 14th fret I believe.
Obviously an easy fix and not worth returning for, but I'm curious if PLEKing sometimes isn't a perfect process. Obviously in my experience, G&L themselves aren't perfect given my luck with them. Everything else about the neck is fine. The action is really low and the neck is fairly straight, about .011" at the 8th fret. It's just those few frets.
